Why is there a bud growing out of this leaf?

I kinda like the little three leafed seedling, I wonder if it would grow like that for the rest of its life and have 3 shoots at each node? hopefully I will get one of these freaks at some point and can play around with it, will have to start my own thread called "Topping for 3 main Colas" lol

The bud growing from a petiole is something I have seen before however in my case it was a male flower. I can't remember the cause but it is attributed to breeding gone awry. The little seedling is a triploid, it has 3 growing segments per node instead of the normal 2.

My herijuana just turned into a triploid at the fifth node. I've seen them start that way, but never turn into one, lol. Gonna try to snap a pic once my battery is charged.
