so instead of just the bad guys shooting people, the good guys will join in now?

make sense to me.
Absolutely, if you have the training and the capability of taking down a maniac like this to protect your own life and others around you, more power to you!

you don't need training and capability to buy a gun. just about any fool can own one. where is the line drawn that separates the good guys from the bad guys?

we have courts of law for a reason. ;)

I understand your point, but I'm not talking about chasing drunk drivers down the freeway or shooting dogs that look like they might attack someone. Of course those situations are better left for the police to handle.

What I am talking about is being in a place where an individual decides he is going to shoot anyone in sight indiscriminately like this maniac did, and there is nobody there to save your own life but yourself.

Running for the door or hiding under a table and hoping for the best doesn't always save your life, just like in this incident.

Myself, I feel a lot safer having a weapon on me that gives me the capability of returning deadly force if I am in fear of my life.

to each his own judgement. just because you may know that you shouldn't shoot the drunk driver, others may feel it necessary. the only way to distinguish the difference is to leave it to the proper authorities. ;)

nobody needs to shoot anyone. just learn to hide better. :)

All the calls for more gun laws is hilarious! This shooting happen in CALIFORNIA. We have some of the strictest gun laws in the Nation. Obviously more laws isn't the answer. They can't keep drugs out of the country, how are they going to keep guns out???

I can see it now... we'll have rouge underground machine shops churning out guns at breakneck speed and they will no doubt be making a handsome profit for their troubles.

But California does have CCW laws. Unfortunately it is left to the local police chief, or sheriff to decide who gets one, which makes it hit or miss whether a qualified citizen can actually get one. Luckily I live in Mendocino County and we have liberal must-issue guidelines. As long as you can pass the background check and the law/safety classes you will be granted the permit. We take that right very seriously and it definitely factors in heavily whenever the Sheriff or DA is up for election. Pro gun and pro pot is an absolute prerequisite to be elected for sure.

And I know LOTS of permit holders. They are all some of the most lawful people I know. As a matter of fact it's kinda funny... When you know someone is an armed citizen, it becomes apparent they go out of their way to stay out of risky situations. --They only park in well lit areas, don't go running to the convenience store at all hours of the night... stuff most people don't really think twice about.

do police harass you when you have your ccw and carry a gun????
In Fl, it has gotten me out of driving tickets, not even carrying, him just seeing my card. I was like no way! haha.. they respect you more because you dont have any warrants or have never had felonies.

Police investigate California salon shooting:

http://www.cnn.com/2011/10/13/justice/california-shooting/index.html?hpt=hp_t1

I'm not saying that EVERYONE should carry a weapon, but I have had quite a bit of firearm training and I am very comfortable carrying one. Do I go out everyday looking to be a hero? No, but I would attempt to protect myself in a situation like this and I feel like everyone in that salon would have been grateful if someone managed to take out this idiot quickly. Even if someone attempted to return fire and was unsuccessful at taking him down, it may have been enough to make the suspect flee and at the same time save lives.

These sort of shootings are becoming more and more common these days, and in my opinion, if more people were properly trained and carried weapons it would make some of these people think twice before committing an act like this.

I'm sure some will disagree, but I choose to arm myself as I will do everything in my power to NOT fall victim to some homicidal maniac like this.

Eight people were killed in this incident. May the victims RIP!
How about there not even being guns, seems that is the obvious and overlooked answer, desperation is fueled by many things.

I see more times in the news they assume, speculate and state their opinions more then report factual evidence.

People run around with ak's and sawed offs,if by some miracle it dont go through you'll probably end up with broken ribs and collapsed lungs.
A 12 ga shotgun will not penetrate a modern type III bullet resistant vest - not even a rifled or sabot slug can do that. Same for the AK - the 7.62 x 39 projectile is pretty frangible & again, will not penetrate a reasonably modern type III vest.
Check out Richard Davis - he invented the Second Chance ballistic vest, and he's shooting himself with full power .44 mag loads !
The second video is demonstrating the vest stopping a .308 NATO round.

well i guess canadian criminals aren't worth a damn because american criminals will just get a gun on the streets and wipe their ass with the permit application. lol @ gun restrictions keeping guns out of criminal hands. gun restriction only keeps guns from law abiding people, just like cannabis prohibition only stops squares from smoking (people who wouldn't touch the stuff in the first place).
Every heard of the Second Amendment ? yeah.. that shit is untouchable by law.. silly how we forget.

We are entitled to our own options no matter how wrong they are. Lets not pretend or sissy foot around here you option is wrong.

OR, now hear me out on this one, stop selling guns to fucking idiots. Hell you need a special permit here in Canada to own a hand gun. If you get mugged here, it'll probably be by knife or just nothing at all. Restrict the fuck out of guns. Only thing a civilian should own is a shot gun or a rifle.

I'm cleaning my .44 right now...been out in the woods shooting stumps...lol. I always carry unless I'm have a load of meds...then I carry my taser. If I'm dressed up like in a tux, I carry a little .25...if I'm out doing normal everyday things I carry a .45 the can covert to a .22 pea shooter, in the woods I like my .45 long barrel,...and for fun I have a .50 that shoots .410 shot also:twisted:...it will remove the whole top half of your body, it's a fuckin cannon.
