I found I can't get White Widow seeds from a bag of shwag. I like to know what I'm growing and what I'm smoking... I just started breeding. It is crazy the strains I've been crossing. And I bought 10 seeds online, "Crystal"(WW/NL).PICKbest female and the best male. I made the girl a mother, pulled some clones. Bred half of the clones with the male and now I have about 400 seeds of a bad ass strain. And now I can try to perfect growing that strain.

where do you think the strain craz originated................ where did the famous skunk weed come from you guessed it a bag of mexican weed many years ago, and all other strains where did they come from hmmmmm could it be that it all was bag seed until some guy thought lets call this ballsak and lets cross it with that stickycock we found in that bag last week and why is it so important to know the strain really come on ther is no way to trace back genetics so you dnt know where that strain originated do you or is it just that sumone said it was the shit so you had to get it so you could be the shit too really explain it too me i wanna know why buy seeds have em shipped and get that much closer to being busted, there are plenty of seeds in your own town plant em all

One of the main reasons why I like to know what I am growing is because strains grow differently one might be Indica dominant. Meaning shorter bushier plant,sativa is a taller thinner plant. Some plants like more nutes than others. So if you grow the same strain for a while, you learn what that curtain strain needs to reach its FULL POTENTAIL.
It doesn't matter where it originated, what matters is that growers have been learning what strains grow best in what conditions. Some strains are more pest and mold resistant than others.Making them better for outdoor.

And I'm pretty sure not all strains of marijuana came from Mexico. If you actually do some research on growing marijuana. It's come a long way in the last 60 years. Alot of strains came from Asia,Africa,Europe,and pretty much all over the world.You will also learn most strains have different kind highs all together, some body,some head, some a combination of them both.
Maybe read a book on the subject.
The Breeders at these seed banks have been cross breeding cannabis for a long time to make it better and better.

And actually, I do alot of local strain trading. A variety of smoke is always nice.But I still make sure I know what it is. And research on its specific strain.That is why I love this Site.

hold up fella i never said all strains came from mexico thats insane i used mexico as an example you are talking to me like im a freakin noob come on man i been doin this shit awhile any bagseed can be grown cloned and after you grow it the first 1 or 2 times you know what it wants and needs, ive been growin this shit for 8 years you can grow a bagseed for awhile and learn all you need to grow it in optimal conditions i dnt need to read a book, no need to talk to me with kid gloves on,i know what indica and sativa mean douche
if you take 5 bagseeds grow em clone em all at the end of flowering pick out the strongest plants through away the rest keep those strong ones ther ya go youve already grown it once so you got an idea what the plants need thats how its done. i dnt see any reason to buy seeds when i can grow fine dank with what i got

I've grown a lot of bagseed that I thought was dank bud - - - until I bought my first real genetics...

most places i see in the disclaimer it says there seeds are for "commercial use only". im not sure but doesnt that mean for sale only. that they'll never be used?
and king is right. everybody gets pinched in some form during there time growing. ya migt get caught transporting some weight.. bring heat to the house by smokin outside... there are mad variables that could cause you to go to jail.... weed growing related....

I love it how you ignore all the other points I made in my last post. But it's ok, you seem like a close minded person who isn't willing to see the simple FACTS on the subject. Why do you think so many seed banks are still around, with alot of repeat customers, myself included. Because people realized really fast that it's all about the strain. Of course it must be grown well. But good pot is grown from good seed. I'm sure you grow decent pot. Consider yourself lucky you got a decent strain from that bagseed.

hey sometimes it takes a few plants til ya find a good one but than it's on. going through a seed bank is just getting you pre determined genetics where as i have to look for the genetics i like... i had a bag of kush that had seeds all through it, i grew 5 of em i found the best one, its dank im happy. i know where the seed came from i may not know what pollenated it, probably another kush that hermed ive been growing that same plant for over a year. the reason i ignored your points is because they don't matter to me i grow indoors i control the environment, i find a plant from baggseed i like and and growes well, keep that one. so i stick with disagreeing. i will say it again some of the best weed came from bagseed..

Well I guess, to each his own. But there are a lot of newbie growers who might get off on the wrong foot trying to grow some random seed from some random bag because they read some dudes post sayin bagseed is great. If you start out with the right information, it's a friggin gravy train from there. Another point I wanted to make is, you say some of the best weed comes from bagseed. Where do think that bag you just bought came from? Probably from a grower,right? And where do you think that grower got that killer strain of Kush? It most likely came from a seedbank!!!WOW!!! I'll I'm sayin is I'd rather take out the middle man, and get the satisfaction of knowing exactly what I'm growing. And you skip the hassle/felony of having to find a bag of weed you like enough to grow.

i say some of the best weed comes from bagseed but whut i mean is all weed came from bagseed at some point and i would rather risk buying a bag than buying seeds over the internet that have to go through customes. so i got that kush no hassel\ feloney from ordering online. we are never gonna agree so i got a seed from a bag that was the product of a seedbank seed sooooooooooo.... its still a bagseed and it still is great if i come accross a seed from some good herb or a clone from a frnd, it all grows not all of it grows well but thats why ther is a selection proccess, seed banks do it too... oh well im done you keep gettin your address poping up over at customs i'll risk getting some seed from a frnds bag good luck hope it all works out for ya.... oh yea one more thing how manny times have you grown from bag seed??????

I'll put my two cents in, and I'm no expert.I personally bought seeds because I wanted pure indica.Bagseed can be mixed genetics,so you have less of an idea of exactly what you may get.By all means, if you do it right, you can get some awesome plants from any seed you germ, provided it is not a genetically defective seed. I think it's a testimony to the skill of the grower that he is getting good plants from unknown genetics.I think, it's kind of like, some folks prefer "mutts" and some want a thoroughbred. Both have their merits, both have their drawbacks.There is a place for all growers here, whether they like bagseed, bought seed,or whatever.

Well being from the UK its mute point as we can buy seeds pefectly legally over the counter, its just illegal to grow them not own them here in blighty.

Right.And if you know what you're doing, then I'd say, more power to ya.We can see that in nature, too much inbreeding is a bad thing.The same goes for plants that get too inbred, pretty soon, the bad traits are all that are gonna show up.That's why it's essential we keep mixed breeds going, to introduce new variations into the gene pool,keeping it strong and vigorous.That's my opinion.

If you can safely choose seeds of literally the best strains on the planet, why on earth waste your time and effort on random bag seed? I agree that a lot of random bagseed could turn out great. That's because you can control how well it turns out. Proper care all the way through harvest and curing will make the strain come out in its finest form.
This day and age is great though when you can research and choose exactly what you want. For the most part you can get your seeds safely with no problems. Most of us don't want to waste our time and effort on inferior randomness though. I learned the difference quite some time ago when a friend from Cali gave me a few different popular named buds to smoke. I never put any merit when a dealer sells you a bag and tells you it is called "make up any name". This particular friend gave me some white widow once and it changed me forever. You'll never go back to bag crap once you start playing with quality genetics.

You just said it exactly. You have to do a selection process. And for a begginer grower this might be a difficult task.So like I said in the last post it sucks you give silly, paranoid advice to people who might not know better. The reason I am so passionate about this issue is because the first few of my grows were from bagseed, and I was getting advice from a person who sounds a lot like you.
Needless to say I wasted alot of time and effort growing what I thought was dank at the time. Then I bought 10 seeds of purple White Widow online.And bought a book called "How to Grow great Marijuana"by Edward Logan.
Along with a few other books.
My first grow after that was unbelievable. And pretty much every grow since then has been very consistant yeild, quality,ect. And thats growing outdoor.

Obviously if you get a seed from a GOOD STRAIN out of a bag, you can grow some good weed.Like I said ,2 each his own. I just don't think you should come on this site and try to scare people out of doing something that might help them grow better quility weed.

And as far as getting busted by customs is concerned, Customs is looking for KILOS of weed,cocoaine,Heroin,ect.
They are not looking for @!#$%ing seeds with absolutely no THC. I know alot of people personally that have been ordering seeds for a long time(myself included). Who have never had a knock on their door saying" We found your seeds come out with your hands up!!"
