My first visit to this Forum, I am usually over on the Medical Marijuana side. I have A HPS 1000 W light that I use for flowering. Room in basement is 4 foot by 8 foot . (8 foot high). I usually grow 5 or 6 plants. They come out of my veg room, which has a MH 400W light. I start seeds and clones under T5 fluros. It all works well but I just turned 65 and have to try to lower the electrical bill. Which brings me to LED's. I am looking for advice. I have been growing for 45 years so have lots of experience. Harvesting outdoors crop now. Opinions on MarsHydro 2000W lights ?
You're in the wrong section. The LED lighting section here is one of the best resources available for horticultural lighting, bar none.
As has been started above; get lighting from someone who builds them and sells them here, like Timber or HLG. Yes, you'll pay more. It WILL be worth it.
Run the room in the mid to upper 80s F, to compensate for lack of infrared light- that actually reduces your AC needs.
60% of the wattage in LED relative to your old HID lighting is a good rule of thumb- but use actual draw, not advertised Watts. Anytime advertised Watts is way different from actual draw, do not buy that brand.
Beware, frosty nugs in your future!
