Thinking Hydro

Ok so I have been doin soil grow for about 2 years and im thinking on venturing out to hydro. Im doing so because well soil is expensive after awhile. So basically i need some recommendations on what i need to start such as set up nuts and so on. Right now i currently have two 600watts going. As for nutrients im using is humboldt nutrients line.

you can use any nute line you want they are mostly transferable even if they say for soil
check out first few pages of my journal in my signature for a quick rundown of what im doing.
im running botanicare and find its easy to mix and use.

Well i know humboldt nutes got a line for hydro that wont clog the pumps and ill check out your journal and see whats up

I was like you 3 month ago and a did a great leep of faith and got a ebb and grow system, my first hydro grow.
thing were a bit dicey for three weeks then I locked it down, was so simple. I ran gh at first then switched to
AN and without any hydro background, just RIU help I took down the crazyest grow ive ever got. so il never go
back to soil. so with that said this is a list to my system.
ebb&grow
blue labs ph meter
blue labs truncheon ppm pen
600w lighting system how many is up to you
standard scrubber for cooling
AN for nutes

and thats it the rest of the gear you probibly
already have for your soil setups

I just saw this new system like mine but it the titan flow-n-grow its way better and I cant wait to get it!!
should check it out.

get yourself a good pH meter and a PPM meter, those are the two most useful tools in hydro.
What these playas arent tellng you or havnt experienced it is that hydro is so touchy, you can lose an entire crop with one wrong feeding or a power failure even for just a few hours.
I do both, DWC, top drip and soil and have killed plenty of plants starting out and you will too it is to be expected.

this is a good article on it

jesus I dont know about you but im not a playa or whatever lingo your refering to. yes hydro is touchy, and yes you can fuck it up but at the
same time you can fix it way faster! I dont rate my sucsess to luck there are a few guide lines to stay with in ph in the 5.8 range, watch your ppm
use H202 every three days and it will grow itself. I already stated a ppm/ph meter was needed. soil was more labor intensive and more $.

Thanks for the info...i have done a dwc set up no ph meter and no ppm meter begginers luck mayb but was pleased so i have decided to go with a bigger set up. Maybe ill come across the problems on a bigger scale, but like anything its trial and error. Thanks again for the info though.

I'm sure there is no one right way to do it, but for my 2 cents, I like GH Waterfarms. It's the only thing I have used, so I would take what I say with a grain of salt, but others have done some amazing things with a scrog.

SCOTTYBALLS WaterFarm SCROG 11 oz. off of one waterfarm!

naysayers lol im sure everyone will agree that there is always a chance of failure in any grow reguardless the style.the most important thing is to use common sence and learn from the mistakes we all experience. research thouroughly all the information you can find re the type of growing you want to do, weed through all the media hype and bullshit people will tell you and just do it!! nothing like experience to show you the way...

I would run EBB & FLOW and stay away from too many variables in your nute schedule just run the basics which allows for minor screw ups With 2 600W 2 3x3 side by side would be killer.

dwc is easier and cheaper than a decent sized soil grow. look into making your own with a cooler. i had res temp issues at first, but i moved my rubbermaid setup over to a cooler, and i have never had a problem since. steady 66 res temps for weeks instead of hours. like you i grew in soil for a few years. more like 5 on and off. since the switch to hydro in a 20 dollar walmart cooler i have never been happier growing. so simple and clean. dont listen to the people that say its hard, because those people have never tried dwc. its so fucking easy.

Haha yeah I did a poor mans dwc. Ice cream bucket pudding cup and aquarium rocks, for such a cheap setup i had pretty good results

im using the B.C technaflora recipee for success right now. 10 different bottles of nutes for around 35-40 bucks. they are sample sizes though. mine will last me at least a couple of grows. you might only get by with one grow but its a good way to check out b.c. nutrients without spending a lot. i think you get everything they make pretty much for under 40 bucks. worth it even if it only gets you through one grow. im liking their shit so far.

if youve looked into dwc at all, you would see that all you need is airstones and air pumps. the water pump and sprayers arent necessary

Then dwc it is and i may have to check out that bc line up depending how much i spend to get things 2gether. Ill of course be starting out small to hone in the technic then go full hydro. Thanks for all the help and if i have any questions ill be sure to post on here.
