thinking about trading my 1000w and 600w for four 400w

I've been giving this a lot of thought lately, and I'm seriously considering trading in my 1000watt hps, and my 600watt hps, for four 400 watt fixtures.

What are some of the pros and cons coming from some other growers that may have extensive experience with both?

dont do it, the lumens/watt you get goes down as you lower wattage (with the exception of a 600 watt HPS at 150 l/w).

if i was thinking about it, it would be more along the lines of "i can get $500 for both of my lights, 4x400 watts will cost me $1000. but if i sell my 600 for $250 i can buy another 1000 watt HPS for $350, instead of spending $500 FOR LESS LUMENS im spending $200~ on 200 more watts of light.

2x 1000 watt lamps is WAY BETTER than 4x 400 watts. and they can cover a larger area with greater light intensity.

4x400 watts is a WASTE OF MONEY. use that money to buy a good fan for the 1000 watts, maybe some cooled reflectors and stuff. its still cheaper than 4x400watt crap lights.

So is three 600watt the very best way to go about getting 1600-2000 watts? As far as the most efficient?

You know I should state that I my grow area is two 4x4 floodtables. Sometimes I'll do something tight and run 16 per table, and sometimes I'll have fewer, like ten per table, and be growing some giants. So the area I am coverung is about 8x4 ft.
