Thinking about flipping to flower earlier than usual. What do you guys think?

Ok, so this is my first organic grow, and I also just built and installed new lights last week. I have usually waited until week 8 of veg before flipping to flower, but these plants are growing seriously fast under the new lights.

This picture was taken 6 days ago under the old lights.

This Friday will be the end of week 5 of veg and I'm thinking about flipping them on Saturday because I have no idea what to expect for the flowering stretch under these new lights. I'd really also like these girls to start growing vertically because watering is quickly becoming a pain in the ass. What do you all think?
 
I would haul down on the ends and let the middle stuff catch up before flipping. Would take less than a week for that to happen.

Thanks! Yeah, the ends are being a real pain in the ass for me. I topped the back plants twice, but only topped the front plants once, just to see the type of end results I get from each method. The back plants (obviously) slowed down a little more, but both grew more twisted, which is strange because those back plants are two different strains but they twisted in the same way. But the ends on all 4 plants are getting a little long so I've had to turn them all diagonally to keep them from growing into each other for now.
 
I only mainlined once, but did it alittle different. I only kept the mains, and kept topping each new top and tying down. The tops competed less that way, but it was still alot of maintenance.
Doing it that way made for a very long veg

I like to do it to keep them shorter but I try not to go overboard with it, because it does slow down the growth when you keep topping them, and having all those stakes in there makes watering a real pain in the ass. Once they get wide enough I remove the stakes and use velcro ties to hold the branches down and the other end of the ties just sticks right to the sides of the fabric pots.
 
Try a scrog if you want to deal with pain in the ass watering. I was kicking myself last round for not putting the pots on a milk crate or something. Months of watering on all 4's gets old quick

Been there and I honestly don't know how guys deal with scrogs in a tent. I had been still setting up the trellis but started using it more for support than anything. This time I'm going back to garden stakes in each pot to support heavy branches.
 
I was thinking about trying tomato cages this round.
Agree with you on the scrog. Best quantity ive pulled, but not being able to move them or get at the backs. Along with the watering...
Would only do it again if i had a room and was able to get at all sides.

You've done a great job there managing them. Are you flowering in the same space? If not, and flower is larger, I'd let them go the full eight weeks you usually do. You can always do a quick super crop during stretch if necessary.

Thanks! I'll be flowering them in the same tent, but I still have a lot of headroom...probably another 40" before I would have to super crop them.
