Things to Grow

Hey everyone.

I have been messing around with growing several different things lately just for some fun and was now starting to wonder something. Besides MJ what other plants can be grown to smoke that have similar effects or at least some "good feeling" effect? I was trying to search around the forum for an answer to this but the search page is down for me with an error so I couldn't really find anything.

Just curious if anyone could give me a list. Thanks.

Nothing.

There are synthetic cannabinoids of uncertain safety, legality, and potency, but you can't grow those.

While there are a few herbs that allegedly have mild psychoactive effects if smoked, I don't think any of them have anywhere near the potency or efficacy of even poor-grade cannabis.

These would include: valerian, hops, leonotis leonurus (wild dagga), and probably a few others. Safety of these things may be questionable.

IMO, your best bet growing legal intoxicants probably includes grapes or other fruit (which you could turn into wine), barley and/or hops (for beer), keeping bees (for honey/mead), tobacco, or (if you live in Hawaii) coffee!

Plants with effects similar to cannabis?

None.

Psychoactive plants?

Take your pick.

Salvia divinorum (Salvia, dur)
Humulus lupulus (Hops)
Passiflora incarnata (Passion Flower)
Catha edulis (Khat)
Calea zacatechichi (Dream herb)

The list goes on. I personally love mixing some calea leaves with a strong indica and smoking it before bed. Amazing dreams.

Khat is a good alternative to alot of stimulants, since it contains cathinone which is similar in molecular structure and physiological effects to members of the amphetamine drug class.


Erowid is your friend, it has a whole catalog of psychoactive plants and fungi.

I grew some about 10 years ago now when spore prints were available in a liquid suspension in a syringe. Now you can buy a bag that's ready to go, work on your part really.

My friend said he smoked nutmeg and tripped balls but I don't know.

There are stimulating purgative drinks you can make from Holly or Button Snakeroot or other stuff. Tons of intoxicants. Research some herbs.

Tabacco is fun.. grows super fast, and very tall!

Kava takes forever to grow, like years, and you use the roots.. plus its linked to several liver diseases

we grow opium......quite pleasant

I have some poppy seeds that my cousin found in a house they moved into, he researched and they are the right kind... to bad i dont have a place to put em!

Yeah, we are terribly limited to several thousand if not millions of varieties of MJ. Bored already are we?
