I thought I would start a thread about things people had to learn the hard way in their first years of growing, lessons that you might not find in a book or online. Target audience for this is the layman, your every day joe grower. I am going to start off with what I think is one of the most important lessons I learned from my experiences in my first year of growing and will return with the other lessons I learned at a later date.
1)On Genetics and growing from seed - Growing from seed no matter where you obtain your seeds is nearly 100% of the time a roll of dice, to what degree you are rolling the dice can variate but always remember when growing from seed you roll the dice..take your best from seed plants and clone them them over and over, minimize the time, space, and resources used flowering plants that are from seed and fully testing them before you start cloning it, remember the best phenotypes are few and far in between so please keep this in mind when growing from seed many plants simply do not deliver in desired traits. Another thing, if your growing from seed dont be afraid of making your own seeds its not at all difficult.
