they want to invest...

a very close friend of mine wants to throw some money into my garden with the intentions on seeing a return. THIS IS A PERSON I TRUST. This is also a person who's only purpose during the op would be to supply capital. He is a non-smoker, and has no interest in anything other than investing.
We're not talking about a huge grow friends. just a small closet set up. there is distance between us personally and professionally. meaning this person has no ties with what i'm doing besides handing the money to someone.
My question is ... what would you cut a person with an interest like that??
I was considering a 30% interest.
This is much needed money in a time where i'm unemployed and at risk of losing my home and whole grow.
OK here's where i expect the advice to not let anyone know what im doing... I know this person WELL. I'm not dealing with a toughguy loanshark or a criminal in any sense of the word. Just a person looking to make extra money and help me out in the process. He knows what's at risk for me not having the capital to keep up with my finances.
What would you all suggest??????

I like your idea, but me personally I don't think your going to make a significant amount if any off of a closet grow. . You should think about the big picture, if your friend wants to invest and make some real money he should do it the right way and get some more space and all the right equipment, do some homework.

Hard to tell, could you be more specific with what he's loaning for and how much? But anywayz, me personally, it doesnt seem worth it, on either side. Your friend probably wouldnt make much in interest since its just a closet grow and wouldnt be worth his time and money, and you, all I can say is Id rather tough it out and know that I DIDNT OWE ANYONE $$.

Your right about the amount of money involved. It wouldn't be worth it for either of us.. however keeping my house would open the possibility of using more space and getting proper equipment to step it up.. set it up more stealthy i might add.
this person is also goodhearted and sees this as more of a favor to me than dollar signs for him

50/50. He's doing you the favor dude.
as far as 50/50 i hear ya on that .. I was thinking on more of a 50% interest. Like i said. They will have no risk involved on their behalf. Also to go 50/50 straight would only hurt any chances of getting things proper. They aren't investing 50% of all cost.

So your grow set up costs what 400.00 max. First grow would pay that off with stash left over. crop 2. 95% profit. not worth it imo.

we aren't talking about a huge dollar amount at the moment not in the least bit.. a few hundred at first just to help me with my rent for this cycle. I also pointed that fact out to him that there wouldn't be much of a return on such a small grow. HONESTLY. like i said dude is a NON SMOKER. But he has seen his own people go bananas over my last grow. I think he just sees how much interest i have in going for the gold and doesn't want to see it go to shit for me. I may be residing in a medical state soon so I have the aspirations of being a caregiver one day

if the guy is being nice and trying to help you out, then its only right to do him good in return. im sure if you pay him back what he put up plus a little extra, im sure he will be happy.

Thats a punk move... Why do that to a good friend who's just trying to help?.
let me just add that.. I would never throw any good friend under the bus. which is why his offer seemed tempting. he wouldn't be involved in any step of the operation. therefore nothing would lead him back to me ... this thread has helped me so far in my decision to just get a loan from him and pay him off with interest for my home finances not the grow

see us friends just exchange clones with one another and a bag if one is out things like that. You start to put business and friendship mixed together no matter what it is NEVER ends up good

Hey bro if its your boy, then your job should be growing, and he sells it. Just front him a qp for lets say $800 or what ever price goes there. Every time you harvest and done curing call him up and he'll pick up and see you with the $$$$ in a couple days. Thats what I use to do.

Is the investor looking to make a one time return or a return on each crop? If they're looking at a one time return do they want it all at once or are they fine getting it as you can afford? The answers to those two questions will help you with a business plan.

Start by taking your overhead out. That includes all electricity costs, nutes, soil, etc. as well as the initial investment amount. That leaves you with either a net profit or loss from what your proposed gross earnings are. Ideally it'll be a profit and you can decide how much your investor will get versus how much you need to reinvest yourself. Now look at how much do you need to grow to cover all of those expenses. How much more do you need to grow to both have some personal smoke and profit?

Time to bust out the handy, dandy, trusty and dusty, pen and paper so you can cruch some numbers.

depending on how long u plan on growing for id say see if u can just pay him back what you owed and then something extra for the trouble. try to cut him out of the picture asap.

me personally i'd keep to myself. not only do you have a house to lose, you have your freedom and friend to lose. kane killed abel and trust me jeleousy is not the only factor when dealing with close friends/ fam.. now what i'd do is grown enought to where you got it where you want, then have them serve for you then you work on the numbers but dont let them go into the growing business with you. grow by yourself.. distribute to him and then give him his percentage. make him your left hand man. ive had one grow with 2 closets and my own fam told on me cuz i was makin so much "money" yueah right... play the game right , I agree with everyone else.. a closet grow aint gone be enuff for you to make a significant amount, just maybe break even with a couple of grams to smoke.. be wise and keep growin

Yea, I woulden't try to get him as an investor or take advantage of him in any kind of way, just sit down and talk with him one day, tell him look this is what we need to get some good shit. Check out page 75 of this thread by stinkbud you can learn so much, build your own VERY effective system with cheap parts from your local home and garden store https://www.rollitup.org/hydroponics-aeroponics/116859-harvest-pound-every-three-weeks.html
Then again i proposed this to him. I think I'm underestimating what he actually wants to invest. Could be a beautiful thing. Thanks for all the replies though . You guys shed the light on the situation. I've had a few people approach me about this. this is the only person i trust.
