Pond Hydroponics...
I have a friend who has been talking about this for years and we finally sat down to see if it would work.
In his back yard he has a pond that is roughly 15' bu 28' oval with various native fish such as trout, Small and large mouth bass, Mountain Sucker, ect.
it is essentially a mostly self sufficient ecosystem. He has to feed the fish three times a month to keep them healthy.

He talked about building a 1000 gallon holding tank area about 15 feet away in his greenhouse. And using the holding tank for a hydroponic grow tank pumping water in and out of the pond as needed to keep the plant healthy. But here is the catch using absolutely no nutrients except what has naturally occurred in the pond. The pond is heavily aerated and has an PH of 7.8 to 8.9 depending on the time of year due to Larch needles falling into the pond.
He is looking to do a single plant in this 1000 gallon tank to see how big he could get the plant.
Would this work? and if so what might be some problems we might face in the process.

Like I said this is just an idea at this point, and no money has been spent so far, but if this would work we would definitely commit to it, and journal every last detail.

Thanks for your help :bigjoint:
