The Yehsence Experiment

Yea yea yea, blurples are bad, cheapo LEDS won't do anything, blah blah blah. I hear and see a lot of trash talk, but don't see a whole lot of results to back it up. Not calling anyone out, but I think it's time to see what really happens.

I'll be getting pictures up eventually, probably later tonight or tomorrow, but I figured I'd start the thread now while it's still on my mind.

Now, this isn't going to be a great experiment. I just so happened to have a plant I threw in the flowering tent last night. The mom it came from was stressed out, I used the last of my sunshine mix getting the 3 gallon pot it's in half full, and don't really expect much as the plant isn't even tall enough to reach my Scrog screen yet.

All that said, I don't even remember what strain this is. My buddy gave me the original clone about 2 years ago, and I'm onto my 3rd mom from it. It was a decent, frosty producer, but that seems to be fading with each generation.

I'll be running GH Flora series 3 part, with Liquid Budswell added in around week 4. The plant is currently, and will until finish, live directly underneath a Yehsence "1000 watt" (183 at the wall) Blurple LED on one side of my 4x8 tent. The other side of the tent has it's mother, currently in week 6, under a 600watt HPS and another of these LED lights.

With what little room I have available, this is the best experimenting I can do.

Why waste my time, money, nutrients with something that will most likely fail? Because I've had a 45 watt direct from China noname 12" square LED in my veg room for about a year next to a 400 watt MH. There is an extremely noticable difference in growth, color, and vigor even under that tiny blurple LED, so I want to see what happens with a full flower run. Truthfully, I want to get my flowering tent setup with 4 of them with a single HPS in the middle essentially just for heat, and this seems the best way to find out if it's worth it or not.

Worst case scenario, I move the blurples to my veg room when I expand it later this summer.

So let's keep the blurple trash talk to a minimum while we find out for sure just how bad these really are.

Bit over a foot tall but branchy as all get out. I think it knows it's going to be abused a bit.

Sorry this one is out of focus, but I just wanted to show that it isn't even to the screen yet. This might actually work really well depending on how stretch goes.

Email and offer to give them a five star on amazon they’ll send you another light if you do it and ask them. I’ve got 530 wall watts of yehs can’t spell it rn

So I harvested this plant last week. I was surprisedish.

It never grew tall enough to fill out the scrog, and I neglected it a bit. Wound up with 2 ounces dry, out of about 2 gallons of dirt.

After the first week it was fed JR Peters citrus feed. Maybe that had an affect maybe not. At 5 weeks I said fuck it and turned my other HPS back on.

It was fluffy, the buds are bright green and rather airy. But, I've grown literally thousands of plants through the years, inside and out, from 1 gallon to 100 gallon pots, big name strains and bag seed. I have NEVER had a plant so sticky.

So there may be something to them, but really I'd rather have the weight of a full HPS run.

I'll get some pics of the buds up tonight.

I love my blurple, guys LOVE to hate them lol. My last run I got 4oz from two plants under 185ish watts of blurple. They’re not crazy dense but not fluffy either.

Of course, blurples will grow weed. Been countless examples of folks doing that...I still have a couple of my old Mars 300's as mother lights and an old King 1200w I retrofitted with some Vesta strips.
What MY experience has shown me is that using current tech diodes in my fixtures allows me to use much less power and produce almost double the yield. That's the difference between blurples and current tech.

IMG_20190610_201118796.jpg IMG_20190610_201055775.jpg took me a couple days, but picture.

To fluffy to do full time. The blurples are going back in the veg tent where they make a much more noticeable difference.
