Yup and that is completely downplayed by the medical establishment. They are actually encouraged not to use the word "withdrawal" and came up with the cute euphemism "discontinuation syndrome" or "cessation syndrome." In my personal and professional opinion, too much of these medications and being prescribed by general practitioner. Nothing against family doctors, but very few are trained or qualified in diagnosing mental illness and should not be handing out these medications so haphazardly. That's what psychiatrists are for. Honestly, I think it should be illegal for anyone other than a psychiatrist to prescribe head meds.

Thanks for saving me the effort of typing that out. The medical profession needs to acknowledge that medications do not have to have recreational qualities to cause dependence. I am not opposed to psychiatric meds as a part o a combination of treatments but I am 100% opposed to them as monotherapies.

I think it should be a rule that they (general practitioners) can't start the prescription but can order refills after at least two years being established on the meds under a psychiatrist's supervision.

My cousin's wife was prescribed 75mg of effexor for postpartum depression. That is just rediculous. She tried to come off the meds after a year and the withdrawals were so bad she gave up.

I was on 300mg (by psychiatrist) but when I ran out of meds that week I could only afford 150mg a day until my meds were shipped to me. (they told me it was shipped but they were out of stock...wtf?)

I stayed at 150mg just incase that ever happens again.

if you sent anything through tormail assume it's been compromised. SR is not hosted on Freedom Hosting and wasn't affected. If you visited a FH site after the bust then wipe your system and clean house if you're feeling paranoid.
