I don't live near Montana or Alabama. In Indiana you get 45 years if you plea and do 85% of your time. Interesting you call somebody racist when you don't like the facts, you missed my point completely because you only see black and white. Good luck in life.

Well, you could have simply checked the statute rather than post complete bullshit you made up.

1st degree murder carries a mandatory life sentence in Illinois.

So, yeah. Your post was a bunch of racist laid, made up bullshit.

And you obviously don't understand that most plea for less time instead of taking it to trial and getting life. Cook county jail and Illinois prisons are over populated. I never even brought race up anyways. You popped that up out of thin air. Not suprising though as your either another left wing extremists or the true racist here.

It is non-negotiable.

There is no "deal" to be made.

That is what the law changed to when they abolished the death penalty.

Your right if they don't get a plea for second degree murder. If they can't prove it was planned and premeditated they will get a second degree plea or voluntary manslaughter. People also get charges racked up. I worked with someone who was out on probation after doing 8 years for murder in Chicago, a white man actually who claimed it was self defense. Im from the Chicago area and know for a fact many people get out on parole due to overcrowding and get the rest of their time in work release, house arrest if they can afford it, then eventually probation.
