The Wind Busted Me..

So someone left my house door unlocked. Wind blew it open, cops came "looking for burglars", found my grow room w/ no plants in it.

I come home soon afterward completely unaware, they put me in cuffs, take my grow room. I tell them what they needed to hear and told them i had tried growing marijuana but failed. They Do NOT arrest me, do NOT take me to jail, give me a list of the things they took, and say "we'll give you a call in a few days".

And thats the last ive heard of them. My lawyer said to not get excited if it takes awhile, but its been almost 4 months now...

Anyone had this happen to u?

Moral of the story: Dont shit where you eat, and lock you damn doors.:leaf:

Why would you tell them your tried to grow weed? Why didn't you just say that you grow your own veggies. Its not illegal to have grow lights and fans and stuff

I'm guessing his library says otherwise....

Cops came "looking for burglars"? Sounds like you have a rat, or a very overly protective neighbor.

can they take your shit if there was actually no evidence of weed?
did they START to take the stuff BEFORE or AFTER you admitted to trying to grow weed?

your equipment was forfeited. you now have to fight to get it back. should have said you were growing veggies indoor. nothing illegal about that.

The real mistake was in the first line... "someone left my door unlocked"

Truly successful grow takes stealth and secrecy. Letting someone have access to your grow pad is a big no-no. If your place isn't secure, you shouldn't be growing or at the very least you shouldn't be surprised when the cops show up.

No telling the truth doesnt always help you. The truth was he grew weed and admitted to it without and evidence, which will get him in trouble. If would have lied and said he was growing veggies, then there isnt really much they can do and he might get his equipment back. NEVER TALK TO THE COPS, if you have to then dont say anything until your lawyer is there or you are in court. The cops arent trying to help you. Unless you are going to snitch they arent going to help you.
But they didnt even find plants, people get busted with plants and dont go to jail a lot of times.

I know a cop who admits they constantly use fake burglary investigations to skirt warrants.. Your own hidden video survellience on grow house wouldn't be a bad idea.. Not only will it warn you of cops snooping around legally, but if they're lying about entry then it would be great to have in court..

Where the hell do you think he lives?? Care-Alot? Sesame St.? Mr Roger's Neighbourhood?? Anywhere else its 'letter of the law' that prevails.. Truth is what can be proven.. Confession is proof without DAMN good legal representation.. And somebody too stupid to keep their mouth shut is likely too stupid to get that..

To the OP.. Your statement was just weak enough I think that they don't think they can win a case on it.. Honestly you would have had problems getting your lights back even if you didn't say that, and had veggie seeds in the room.. But say good-bye, your gear will go up for auction and get sold to a fellow grower.. They save money by avoiding a weak case, and make money by siezing your assets.. Win-win for them..

That's what makes FLIR helicopters so dangerous... the excuse is made up AFTER the fly by.

Well sorta. I didnt clean up my mess.... and thats what fucked me. There were numerous pots some with dead weed in em, leaves and some debris were all over the floor. One of the officers said they KNEW I was growing marijuana ( and it was pretty obvious, my sativa like leaves were pretty distinguishable from any other plant leaf )

But yes after awhile I had to tell the truth, it was either me, or others that had no part.

The cops said that because I was so cooperative they wouldn't take me to jail that night.

Funny thing is that I plan to grow again as soon as that becomes possible. It may be ten years from now, but its happening again.....bongsmilie

More like a hyper active alarm company who finds it necessary to call the police.

the only burglars that went into your house were those cops.
Aint that the truth.

Ive heard alot of stories of people getting busted for this or that for that same reason. I had a buddy who had guns taken from his apartment because the upstairs apartment had a water leak in the sink and leaked into his apartment into the one below and the landlord came to check it out. My buddy was a legal owner and the cops never admitted they took the guns but left cards. He did have an assult rifle set up on a bipod, but there isnt anything illegal about that, they just chalk that up as more guns off the street. I know that was off topic a bit, but related.
