a bag will work for that if you have a brick or something for the pot to sit on. if you turn the pot fairly frequently they won't grow a lot of roots like that, so you can't stress them by breaking a bunch at once.
I took the bag off. The thing that worries me now the top feels so bone dry but it is still showing signs of overwatering just sad still and a little puffy but my hydro meter is showing bone dry so I'm not sure if I wait to water till plant is looking healthy again from the last watering or what

you probably have a little root damage from them sitting in the run off. if the soil is dry, water it. the roots need a proper environment to recover, so get them wet, just give them time to dry out again before you do it again. don't expect instant recovery...but they should continue to improve, just be patient
