The Truth About the Economy

People during the Great Depression were significantly better prepared to deal with the fall out of a serious economic or social disaster than people are now. Almost 90% of people lived and worked on farms during that era and were often quite self sufficient for a number of important necessities.

I always find these discussions fascinating though as I rarely if ever see anyone actually address the causes of these problems in any meaningful way. Yet somehow solutions are offered.

The idea it takes decades to fix these problems is a ridiculous one for the record.
????????
People starved to death in record numbers

yep, they have affixed the nose ring and are leading you about with it. Good luck at the slaughterhouse.

So, from what you say, its all pre-ordained. All we can do is put our heads in the sand and kiss our asses good bye. Thanks for the advice. Well not really.
Careful. He might not catch onto your sarcasm...

It took one Act of Congress on the eve of WWII to raise taxes to ninety percent- ON THE RICH. Or, they could buy war bonds.

This current situation of extreme inequality was created by tolerating an administration that lowered taxes for the rich without doing the same for the working classes. It was perpetuated by EVERY ADMINISTRATION SINCE which has made the imbalance worse, failed to undo it, nor even address the effects of the disaster.

The rural population entered the economic strife characterized by the Great Depression much earlier than the city folk. You put a rosy glow on it, imagining everybody living off jam from berries or such. Their economic privation was pretty bad. Sharecropper farmers in the south had nothing and no prospects, across the nation low prices for what could be grown leading to defaults and lost farms, no, it was pretty bad.

People did starve in record numbers.

Wow you are pretty ignorant.

GW made quick decisions and took action. We are still living with his mistakes.

Rapid action done right requires excellent leadership and a mandate from the electorate. We currently have neither. Agree that something can be done quickly in the right situation but I don't see this congress and this electorate enabling that. "Done right" has higher value than "rapid", in in my opinion for what it's worth.

Plenty of Americans are starving right now. Just because the mega Corp owned media doesn't want to rub your nose in their failures does not mean they aren't still starving.
Not very many Americans are starving, might be a bunch that are hungry, but being hungry and starving are not the same thing unless you are a bleeding heart liberal, then in that case having a heart attack and not having free wifi are the same thing too.

Don't know yet- we still have a year to see. I don't make my mind up until much much much closer to the election. I stay open to everyone for a lot longer.

The time to get involved in politics is NOW!

Frankly, it won't take much of your time to get involved in your local caucusing process, and it will be highly educational to do so...

I'm not just urging you to take charge of your political future- I'm yelling at everyone who reads this from now on to do the same!

Or, bend over, lube up and get ready for more of the same, only worse.
