I've come to the conclusion that the 'tastes like chicken' adage stems from reptiles, amphibians, and birds being closely related. Frog legs, gator, snakes, turtle, etc. are all described as tasting like chicken/poultry. (Most don't, though...turtle tastes like fatty dark pork, as example, and others taste like the bogs they came from.)

They're big up the mountains here. Big as in popular to eat. I tasted it once...got the 'tastes like chicken' encouragement.

I didn't really like it...I couldn't get past the thought of what it was I think.

You can't trust them not to snap at you if they're pretty hungry. Doesn't really hurt, time you realize what happened you'll be pouring blood out of tiny holes. Looks bad but it's not really. That is, unless you're a hemophiliac, then I wouldn't advise having one..lol

If you ever try again(on one you or pals kill); gut and skin it, "steak" it like a fish, stab a steak on a stick and roast like a marshmellow, then drizzle with Tapatio hot sauce. Yum
