The ritual.

I think many smokers and users forget about the pleasure of grinding your weed down to the perfect consistency, making that great joint or that perfect bong hit.
For me this is one of the simpler pleasures in life, that first whiff as you open a grinder or cut into a head.
the feel of the paper in your hands or the head getting gently inserted into a bowl.

Pure bliss :)

In Africa there is a tradition to always give the ancestors some of your first beer (leaving a drop on the floor) and I have done the same since I was 16 when it comes to weed. Just a tiny little dusting to appease the ancestors. Possibly a little foolish but a part of my daily smoking ritual.

Do any of you do anything similar? (can't call me a hippie as I am mostly Afrikaans and am currently wearing a 2 tone khaki shirt). :p

I don't really have anything like that, I just follow the etiquette I was taught, which is something I don't hear about anymore - people being taught etiquette by those who got them started smoking. Old school, I suppose. Anyway, I always offer first hit to any guest who may be present, and if I'm the guest I always offer to match. That's about as close as I get to a ritual.

wake up, smoke , study, pray, read, work, check ebay accounts. my rituals become more when i have my overhead covered 3 times what i need. then it becomes tea time, going to market, read different books , buy books and just a general keep a constant flow of ideas and education for when i know im going to need it.

It's pretty common, I never really thought of it as a ritual, just being polite. LOL, I had manners beaten into my skull as a kid.

YES.

The weed fairies give generously back when you give. For about the first year or so when I was smoking, I ALWAYS had to get every little piece and bit up. Now I do not care.

There is always going to be weed, somewhere to get it and you will smoke again for sure. So there is no need to get upset over loosing some keef or, not using all the broken up bud for loading a bowl.

And so those small scraps and bits simply blow away into the wind, back into nature. Their organic compounds break down and are recycled just as our ancestors did when they died and decomposed.

So I guess you can say I went from a ritual of always being stingy with my weed to being generous when I get my hands on some (And offer the first hit, as you all do as well.)

Nah im being serious. And thank you!

I've also been keen to what my friends back in the day said when they lost bud... it's for the dead homies. Same concept as the African traditions =3

ya. my ritual is grab a fat nug, load up that bong, and milk the shit out of it. then when it's all milked out, I rip that badboy in one hit. hold it in till i feel like passing out, then hold it in a little more... then I blow out that cloud like I was a huge dragon. that's my ritual

No ritual here. There will always be weed. But guests in my home, and there are few, get to smoke the finest shit I got available. Its all about making THEM happy they came.

Bongies, Bongies, Bongies, if I'm on the go then I roll up doobies. Vector jet torch lighters are the shit and propane torches for bong wands. Never touching a Bic again...
