I think part mental hospital, medication, doctors visits and part jail time would have been more fitting. Guys who hurt children must have issues that can be curable. Unless they're sexual crimes, which can't be cured IMO.

Sociopathy is a tricky one. How does someone "grow" a conscience, if you get my meaning? My heart does go out to you on that one man. That must be a rough thing to deal with. I have three brothers, so I can't help but wonder what I'd feel like in the same situation. I'd still love them, but...well...damn, I don't even know how to put the rest into words.

While in Prison maybe he'll be on the receiving end of some abuse and will find out how bad it really hurts. Nothing like PAIN to make you stop doing something.

Brothers and sisters can be hard , in one sense you cant stop loving them and in another you seek justice.
If you believe he will never ever hurt anyone ever again he will have his chance in 30 years, if not, hes in the best place for him.

Put some money on his books and realize, being a sociopath cant be cured.

And I don't remember asking you anything, the question I asked was directed towards the OP, a pretty good friend of mine. You've still got your training wheels on and don't understand the dynamic of personal relationships developed through RIU, or accept that not everyone will have the cookie cutter view of reality that you seem to have.

So tell me, what is wrong with asking how the incident described in the OP might affect their relationship? Why is that so appalling to you?

Anyone no matter what should be given the chance for bettering themselves from what they were, but if they show that they can't change or aren't willing to then that is the point where they should have life in prison or lethal injection.
