I tried growing a pure sativa landrace cultivar indoors and it didn't work out very well; I learned why breeders use Indica to get the different ratios, even 20% Indica reduces the flowering time. The fore-runners of all modern hybrids are the hippies that moved to the California wilderness, aka "emerald triangle" in the late 60's-70's. Ed Rosenthal said that protoplasm from all modern hybrids can be traced back to the work done by those people. Beginners profit from this work by having a lot of different strains to choose from which are nutrient tolerant and super easy to grow.
Check out Afropips, they're have pure African Landrace Sativas. Afghanica, pure Indica, or Charas/Hash plant cultivars are found in the Himalayas, the Hindukush valley, Pakistan, Iran, and thru out Asia as well. Breeding pure Sativas with pure Indicas is how all modern hybrids began. This would be fun if you're in a legal state and can germinate 1000 seedlings. From 1000 F1's I would choose the best 100 to acclimatize. Finding and selecting the ones that have the best traits of both parents is the key to developing your new hybrid. Over another generation try back crossing with the original parents, then you'll really have something new and exciting.
