I cleaned this unit a week prior with hot water and bleach. Rinsed it well and let it dry.
Took cuttings, used tap water with two sediment/chlorine filters.
ppm 0 .... ph 8.1
added some k silicate
added ph down to lower to 5.6
first few days ph remained fairly stable
then i started to have to add ALOT of ph down to keep it around 5.6
Now ppm is around 1000 just from all the ph down.
Can't add anymore.
I never have had any luck with aero/hydro, I can never keep the ph correct.
I assume that while handling the unit checking progress my bare hands may have contaminated the rez.
ph is staying around 8
anyway to remedy this without changing the rez?
It's kinda hard to change the rez by myself without worring the babies might wilt too much.
The babies are just starting to grow legs after 8-9 days in.
Is this normal?
Does a rez typically "go bad" after a week and need changing?
I love soil......
