What up people, today i decided to try something new, seeing as my job consists of repairing and installing PC's i tent to have many, many old towers laying around, so after stumbling upon a thread about PC growing i decided i would do it to go along with my first ever grow out doors. So today i got to work in stripping down the PC itself.
I didn't take a before picture but what i had to do was pull out all the internal components so motherboard, power supply, CD Drives etc... Then i was just left with a stripped down case with metal holders that were pot riveted in, so i got out my handy drill and a drill bit that was the same size as the head of the pot rivets and drilled them out all around the casing. Annoyingly after i drilled out all the pot rivets the metal holders were still glued in place so it required a large amount of pulling and ripping.
Eventually i had everything stripped out and i pot riveted everything back into place and blew out the PC with a air compressor. Here are a couple of pictures of where i am up to now, a completely stripped down case.
and here's all the crap that came out of it excluding the metal holders.
So now what i have to do is intall and intake and exhaust using PC fans, line the inside of the casing with some reflective surface, tape it up with silver tape/duct tape so it becomes light proof, mount the power board and attach the 3 CFL lights, and get other things such as a timer and some old phone chargers for wiring the PC fans. Here's my chopping list for tomorrow or the day after.
So that it, hopefully i can acquire all this for around $50 and get to growing some plants, I plan to start the plants in small plastic drinking cups with drainage holes in the bottom, I will veg the plants for 2 - 4 weeks at 18/6 and when the are of adequate size i will start LSTing them so they become smaller yet yield more, I will then switch them into flower at 12/12 and let my babys produce, i will germ 5 seeds and weeds out the 2 - 3 males and hopefully have 2 female plants left that would be ideal.
Anyways I'll update this when i go shopping and start on the setup.
