The Official House and Garden Thread

I think they are referring to anyone who has good PH then adds their product then wants to PH again, that's unnecessary.
That makes sense..If I decide to use it again ill add it after I adjust the ph. I changed the tub out and used gh calimagic instead

With the plant amp its like it wouldnt let me adjust the ph. I had to use a rack just to get it to ph 5.1 and then it went to 7.8 in a day or so...no bueno imo.

Hello all you House and Garden Lovers,

I have read all 129 pages of this post and accumulated lots of valuable info. I will expand more about what I have learned in the future. Right now I just wanted to show something wierd and hopefully good about shooting powder.

These 18 plants are under two 1000w HPS lights and started flowering about one and a half weeks in. Then they started the stretch period which lasted about 2 and a half weeks. By the fifth week when they received bud xl and top booster, they already had some pretty decent compact nugs.

After starting the shooting powder in the sixth week, they started to stretch again just about 2 or 3 inches but it stretched the nice compact buds into the type of buds you see when there is not enough light. I'm sure that is not the case because the 1000w air cooled lights are only about 3 inches above the top colas.

My first thought was negative like there is something wrong but then I remembered that the shooting powder is supposed to initiate a second bloom cycle of approx 30% more growth. I have never seen or heard of this type of stretching except in light deprived individuals so maybe it is just wishful thinking and maybe it is the shooting powder actually doing what it is supposed to. I would expect the buds to eventually fill out the newer growth but for now it just looks lanky and stemmy. The main stem just shot up out of the top of the cola. Here are some pics:

If anyone else has seen this, please let me know and explain why. If not, I guess we will see what happens but if it is not extra growth from the shooting powder, I am stumped. If it is and the new growth fills out, I will be amazed. I am already amazed by the Roots excellerator and the Amino Treatment.

Thanks for any input you have.

The hydro store I buy my H & G at takes the feeding chart and blacks out the lines for using the algen extract. They say don't bother, and I don't.

His problem is watering to much to soon. For starters start in a smaller pot. Water when it reaches half its weight. So water it then let it sit for a hour or so, so it all the extra drains. Check the weight and go from there. If you water a little less at first then your root growth will explode searching for more. Those transplanted from a one gallon or a Dixie cup into a 3 gallon could go three days the first couple watering or longer. Check the weight. That's all that matters. Towards the end depending on your last transplant and what size could need everyday to 4 times a day watering. Promise just check the weight. If you flood them constant you could get root rot depending if you are using an enzyme or not plus roots excel. Full weight pots that dont get to air out a little will hinder growth. And of course that depends if you cut with perlite or not and how much. Water real slow real real slow. You wanna hear bubbles popping. Then you know you are creating a vacuum and sucking fresh oxygen into the root system. You'll catch on.

Thanks bro... I'm using the botanicare coco that had the perlite already in it. I give them a half gallon at a time. I'm going to let them dry out a little then start out with less but more often. Thanks again.

Been a lurker here for a long time, this just kinda blew my mind, at least enough to finally post here.

I recently made the switch to coco & H&G nutes, coming from Rockwool and AN. I had some pretty insane problems my first run - Cal/Mag deficiencies in veg & early flower as well as some Nitrogen Toxicity in weeks 4-5 of bloom. Soooo...I downloaded the Cannastats spreadsheet and started to enter the products so I could try to figure out some educated changes this next run and BAM, I find this....WTF? we are ONLY guaranteed at least 10% of what should be in the bottle is in there???

WHY NPK NUMBERS HAVE CHANGED ON H&G BOTTLES

Good info, thx for the link. I have been wondering why the NPK values were so low.

Here is a link to the NPK analysis: http://www.house-garden.us/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/npk-analysis-of-house-and-garden-products.pdf

Thanks for the link, I did see that one for Aqua Flakes, as well as finding one for shooting powder. Other than that, my only point of reference besides the bottles has been the information on the CDFA database.

I have been trying to get a solid number for Calcium in Coco's A&B, but haven't found anything to date. It did seem a bit odd to see the Mg was listed on the GA, but no Calcium despite frequent hearsay that a rep or a hydro shop guy told someone who told someone else there is plenty in there. ;-)

I have been told there is plenty of Cal and Mg in the base nutes but I still have to add CalMg and MagAmped to take care of visible deficiencies.

What Cal-Mag products do you guys use that mix well with HG? and also what Silca products?? Amino is great, wonderfull actually just so pricey!

Botanicare CalMag+ and Cutting Edge Magamped are the products I use with both Aqua Flakes and Cocos. I use the Amino Treatment so I don't have any substitutions that I can recommend.

I'm gonna try some GH calimagic + hydrotek sillica next time

when is the best time to start using the sillica? after a few weeks starting in veg up until mid flower?
