my plants are slowly turning yellow and i dont know why. im thinking it might be the humidity but i dont have a hydrometer or anything so i dont know. im growing in a basement so i thought the humidity would be decent....
i know you can put standing water in the room and that will bring up the humidity a bit. whats the best way of doing this? one large container of water, several smaller containers?? even when i turn my fan up it doesnt seem like temps really go down. its like the fans just blowing hot air around. i started adding nutes since my plants are around 3 weeks old and thats not helping anything (that i know of). i think i might the plants might be getting too much nutes since its preloaded soil. should i flush them?

i know you can put cfls withing an inch or two from the tops of the plants but i think it might be too intense for the seedlings. my hand doesnt seem hot under the lights but with the low humidity im thinking i should raise the lights a bit?

i got out of bed to come post this so please any tips would be appreciated!

first off in a basement the humidity wouldn't be too low it would be in the high range... i suggest hitting up walmart for one of those little temp/humidity thermometers they are like 5-10 bucks and see just where your stuff is at ...you might need to vent it better to get down heat and dehumidify to bring down humidity...and for CHRISTS SAKE ...don't nute for the first 2 or 3 months with pre nuted soil or you will burn them up .... just let the plants drink up what is there just water only...and not flipping tap water either... lol its all good...just keep at it ... :bigjoint:

heres a couple pics, 1 thing is on old bean, 1 tip of the 1st fan leaves has like a burn on the end, the temps are fine and im not over nuting them. i might have touched it to the light when i was moving them around, any suggestions/thoughts??? you can see how far away the lights are, so i dont think thats the problem.

plants need some humidity so thats why i thought the basement would be ok. maybe its a little too high though. i'll get a hydrometer as soon as i get a couple bucks to see whats up.

im definitely going to stop giving nutes to the plants.

so should i flush even though i just watered the plants yesterday? over waterings better than nute burn right? they just look fragile right now so i dont want to mess anything else up. as far as buying water for the plants right now isnt really an option. i let all my water sit out over night before i give it to the seedlings. also i have some sort of water filtration system in my house. you think i should start using that. i really need a ph meter!

come to think about it i do have a dehumidifier downstairs. it wont fit in my box/closet but i could put it in my room i suppose. what percent should i set it at? im just not sure that the humidity is too high. in my box it seems like a dry heat but idk....

the leaves arent curling up or anything so i dont think its a heat issue.

can plants have nute burn without having spots on their leaves? my leaves just slowly turned yellow and now ones starting to turn light brown around the edges.

has anyone ever had similar problems?

hey dank, found this in a online marijuana growing guide

Temperature and Humidity

The ideal temperature is 68 to 78 degrees Fahrenheit (20 to 25 degrees Celsius). Night temperatures should be a few degrees lower than daytime temperatures. Temperatures below 50 degrees Fahrenheit (17 degrees Celsius) slow down the growth of most varieties.

Cannabis grows best in a mildly humid environment: a relative humidity of 40 to 60%. Plants growing in drier areas may experience chronic wilt and necrosis of the leaf tips. Plants growing in a wetter environment usually experience fewer problems.

im seeing some new growth finally so i think they might actually make it. i just dont know why they were doing so bad even before i gave them nutes. i think its the water. cant wait til i have a hydrometer/thermometer/ph meter. im tired of this guessing game.

Humidity yeah, That's a big thing for the plant, especially in flower. But the pH isn't a huge deal in soil grows

OK ghetto growers im gonna be measuring for my new ghetto grow cab im going to build...so soon i will be posting pix of the box im going to be building ;-)

the proposed dimensions are going to be 3 feet high ... 3 feet wide ... and 4 feet long ..

its is going to be a sectioned off bottom of a closet that is basically going to be 1/3 of the closet but it is all going to be built out of easy to find stuff

im gonna use some old plywood i have around for the top and front of the box and some old shelf brackets i have to hold it all up

then my wife don't know it yet but im gonna swipe her spray glue to stick up my 2 Mylar emergency blankets inside so ill have a nice reflective surface

ill be using left over storm door weather stripping to seal cracks and duct tape on the inside since it is mildly reflective also and a DIY carbon filter out of a 80 to 120 mm computer fan and charcoal in some configuration(yet to be determined)

the lighting is going to be two 2 foot shop lights(dual 4100K bulbs) on either side or possibly across the back as side lighting for the pots and also 2 150 watt equivalent CFL's on dangle chains coming down from the top with the combination of them all and the Mylar reflectiveness it will give me 2700 lumans per square foot inside the cab allowing me to run 2 and even possibly 3 plants on a perpetual SCROG ...

GOD i love how weed makes you think up new and better cool shit to play with !! :bigjoint:
