yO BrO,
Hate hear your having a hard time...... AGAIN, haha!
In order for you not to spit the wood you'll need to drill pilot holes but make sure the bit is smaller than the wood screw your going to screw in. Now this is how I did the corners (etc, see diagram/pix). I needed my screen to be 2'x2', i.e. 24''x24''. Now, the wood i chose was in the pre-cut wood trim isle. Matter fact at Home Depot they have them cut in 3' Long x1'' Wide x 1'' Thick. Here they even have a small table saw where you can cut it yourself because its just trim pieces so there's not much to cut. There's usually a tape measue handy also. Since the pieces are 3' long and I only need it to be 2' or 24'', I cut my lengths for two of them to be 22'' and the other two I cut to 24''. Since they are 1'x1' I only loose 2'', an inch on each end. You with me?
Then I just line up corners to make it square. At this point you drill your pilot holes for you screws and make sure you put 2 screws in one end so the dayam piece of wood dont start rolling on you when you string it. In addition to drilling pilot holes for your frame, once you have it assembled mark and drill holes for the screws your going to install to run the twine around. I like the bright colored twine that way its easily seen in contrast to the plants. Dont use black or green because they blend in too well and you could slice a plant because you couldnt see the twine. Also when I string my screens I dont cut the string. I just tie it to one screw in the corner and start stringing it from screw to screw from side to side alternating up and down between each string. When I string I wrap it around the screw a couple of times to make it secure but I dont cut that string until the whole thing is done. I cant tell you how to do this, your smart, you'll figure it out. Drilling the holes, installing the screws and stringing the frame will be the most time consuming part but put the time in and it will look really neat in the end. Rush it and it will look like shit and I'll talk aboutcha! LoL
Look at the diagram and hopefully this will get you where you need to go. Good Luck Dude!
Ultimate fail bud I walk down the lumber isle look to my right see some wood 98cents a pop have the man cut me 4 18" and 4 16" threw them in the car and went home started putting crap together any which way like an idiot split a piece of wood I even got so frustrated I started super gluing my screen together yeah that was bad now my whole hand is a crusty mess have a final to study for tomorrow so my mind has been racing hopefully I get my act together tomorrow going to go get another set of wood pieces.
