they are growing and growing well .. appreciate the images of the process to go right with the making .. i will surely follow it and will give it a try
Thanks for the interest Warren...Yeah not bad growth considering the origins of the parts and the throw together design...still got to flower with it though...so yeah... wispy buds anyone? :)

Yeah..its not the most technically correct of the DIY panels out there...more of what i had lying about and a few add ons...so read around a bit more 1st. :)

Other than your choice and layout of NW and WW, you know I love your creative drive

Based on several attempts to grow with NW and WW, my recommendation is for ~ 15-20% blue but equally scattered over the panel, and the rest WW. MAYBE 20% of the remaining WW on a sep o/o switch for when the buds set

Appreciate it. however a few points. :)

My 'choice' was based on a majority 'blue' chip...why? The stated reason..it is a veg panel...it wont be seeing jack of flowering.

Now the 'layout'....As it is a veg panel...i need maximum coverage out of my panel....given my dimensions of the heatsink...this was the maximum coverage i could have come up with...(im pushing it having 10 x 10w multichips on there as it is)

Another point on the layout....i needed these reasonably evenly spaced because i would have got hot spots if i didnt....granted the middle 2 a quite close...but they have the fans pretty much on top of them so that negates that.

I know you are into preaching about different layouts...but sometimes it isnt plausible. :)

I have grown with whites aswell. In all due respect my friend...i couldnt give a toss about percentages of blue...the plant will adapt to what it is given. :) Ill never forget my 1st LED grow...

^^^^^ this bud was directly under a cool white 30w floodlight...adaptation in motion...

Do you have a parts list for the panel you're building in Post #39?
Ummm ok i guess...but make sure you do a better job then this....its not the best example of a DIY panel...and it wouldnt flower very well....

If you wanted to flower with it or all round panel....get a 7 x warm white to 3 x cool white split.

10 x 10w multichips >>>>>> http://www.ebay.com/itm/10PCS-10W-LED-Pure-White-1100LM-LED-Lamp-SMD-Chip-light-bulb-DIY-DC-9-12V-/141098750415?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20da2411cf

Thermal adhesive....(my new favourite thing!) >>>>>> http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-Shipping-85g-GD9980-Thermally-Conductive-Adhesive-Glue-Thermal-Grease-With-Adhesive-Heatsink-Plaster-For-CPU/1173679385.html

I used 2 x PC power supplys (which i didnt show) they were 5a each >>>>>>>>>>>>> http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC100-240V-to-DC12V-3A-5A-6A-Power-Supply-Adapter-for-Led-Strip-Light-US-EU-UK-/360805686438?pt=US_Lighting_Parts_and_Accessories&var=&hash=item5401b1dca6

Connectors...you could use numerous conductors...i used these >>>>>>> http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hot-Selling-10A-Dual-Row-Connector-12-Position-Wire-Barrier-Strip-Electrical-Terminal-Block/615794561.html

and these >>>>>>>>>>>> http://www.aliexpress.com/item/10-pair-JST-led-strip-Connector-2pin-15cm-Wire-for-Male-female-Led-Lamp-Driver-cable/933005357.html

The fans were from old PC's and bits....i would mount 3 x 120mm fans on there if i was doing a proper job >>>>>> http://www.ebay.com/itm/Computer-PC-Case-4-Pin-Cool-Cooler-Cooling-Fan-120mm-/231109114498?pt=US_Computer_Case_Fans&hash=item35cf2d3a82

The heatsink came from my local foundry... but check out these guys for the heatsinks >>>>>>>>>> http://www.aliexpress.com/store/126942

Random 10a electrical wire...

Solder iron and solder...used a 40w solder iron

Think thats it. :)

Hahaha....that is what the PC case is for.....and there is a party cup comp coming up....i expect to see you there... :)
been considering building another 'tentacle of light' for the party cup competition - figured that might get me some style points anyway (similar to my other one but 2x WW 5630 and 1x CW 5630 per tentacle)

I never can find much info on the latest SMDs - where do you look for info? I think we already concluded that you pretty much have to test these things because the specs are so badly lacking, but I'm still curious if anyone posts any kind of specifications worth examining

Hmmm not really sure...i think i was just sticking numbers into google with 'LED strip' attached to it....hahaha...alas i didnt end up ordering the 7020's as they dont make a 'warm white' yet...just cool white...so they must be quite new....

Yeah...real world testing is a must with these things....wonder if the micro growers in the 'Stealth section' have got over their CFL love affair yet....i might go over and find out...maybe... :-P
