The Main-Lining Thread

I think lst and mainlining are both good examples of this ancient training technique... If I had the time I would try a restricted growth outdoor plant training them horizontally a foot of the ground cutting each resulting vertical branch above it's first node creating hundreds of smaller buds. Would be a real bitch to trim but probably produce plenty of sugar trim
tt,

Not knowing what it was called back then, the mid 70's, I did that from bag seed. Planted the young seedling at one end of a planter and trained the plant to grow about 6 inches off the ground. It was beautiful, had shoots almost covering the whole planter. coming off the stems the new growth was all about 8 inches. This was an outdoor grow so when the time came that it sexed it turned out to be a male.
I would love to try that again. I looked for the pictures of that grow but guess I did not get custody of those pictures in the divorce. LOL

Peace out,

GR

@ Tussel: Yes, espalier is a nice looking way to decrease yield in a plant that has a shorter life cycle than a fruit tree. LST and/or scrog would give the same effects without the incredibly high stress or stunting that this butchering would bring with half of the good strains available today. I think that there's a reason why a lot of people aren't using this technique. :spew: I'll still have to try it with some bag seed because I'll be damned if I'm going to run the risk of letting yield suffer doing this with a good seed. Some of us don't have 8 months to dick around training the plant into all 26 letters of the alphabet. Keep in mind that the best way to grow outdoors with marijuana is to just let the SOB grow. Training outdoors is for stealth and/or people without catwalks or 20 ft. ladders. Good day.

we will just have to disagree, I harvest 3-5oz. Every 2 months with no stress just big dank Colas. I am not going to argue it any more I can see you have little knowledge ofgrowing marihuana and I will let you live y o ur life worrying about stressing your plant.

Look up Cannabiogen Jamaican Blue Mountain. You aren't going to yield that with this technique. Also, it's foolish to say that someone doesn't know how to grow cannabis just because they don't agree with pruning the plant like you do (like an fruit tree). Great, you harvest 3 to 5 ounces every two months...and everyone else is harvesting three to five pounds a plant and they aren't doing it using the slow and stressful method either. It's useful for growing up against a wall for six months I suppose...but that's about it.

mate at the end of the day its a hobby and PERSONAL PREFERANCE. nobody would come to you and tell you to stick the parts of your model ship together with self tapping screws instead of glue cos its stronger

you show us a pic of a 5lb plant that aint been pruned or cut!!!

and if the method was as stressful as you think every single plant on this thread would of herm'd would it not?????

@ shady lady ..I didn't say pruning and training wouldn't benefit now did I? But this extreme shit is just counter productive and more novelty than anything. Herm? The fucking things aren't yielding what other plants do man! You are trying to spin away from what I am saying here. @ Java It's called having an opinion. How are people that research things like this supposed to figure out what they want to do if everyone is just saying the same rosy shit?

For my part, I have never looked at MLing as a perfect method.

It is my opinion that this method trades time for a shift in yield weight to larger buds.

Gotta love the results though....or, well, I do.

lol man. what strains is that tussel? how far from done is she??
Oh I've smoked here already she was done 6 months ago... I think she had 3 weeks left in that shot I don't remember. It was a cannaloupe kush freebie from DNA genetics. She was very sweet tasting and a strong high that would leave you wondering around the house confused afraid to go outside confused
