i recently moved into a council flat which is one up one down. Im on the ground floor. My neighbour upstairs crops which is no business of mine but im in a spot of bother for it now.
I recently had a new boiler installed and new radiators, a sub contractor came out today to inspect the work before handing it back over to the council.
He asked me before he went 'is there anything in the cupboards' an i said no. He then told me he would be back on friday with someone from the council to check the flat. I didnt think anything of it until I went to my car after he went and came back in and the smell of crop slapped me up the face! An then i thought damn thats why he asked what was in the cupboards he already checked the boiler and noone is going to put a radiator in 2 small cupboards. I have a terrible sense of smell so I didnt smell it this morning when I woke up. Im not bothered the man upstairs grows but at the same time its a liability and problem for me if he cant control the smell, ive grown before and the smell never went into my old neighbours flat.
I suspect the subcontractor thinks its me because the smell is real strong. I did have my equipment at the ready to get set up in a few weeks but now Im going to have to push it back. Ive moved all my equipment out of the flat. Has anyone had experience with the council. If they come on friday and the smell hasnt cleared will they keep coming back to check? I want to warn the guy upstairs to me because I wouldnt like to see him get caught but at the same time he isnt going to be impressed that im approaching him saying that. I dont smoke joints in my flat or keep any weed in there i go outside if i do in my back garden as a gully is at the back of it so the smell cant 'disturb' my surrounding neighbours.
I think I am overly paranoid but I just dont want a knock at the door in a few months time when im up and running.
Any advice would be appreciated.
