its not really a stealth grow but the only place the missis will let me grow for now is in a 54x44x160cm press, iv done 2grows in there with 110-160w cfls nirvanas short riders, 1st grow i got 1 ounce 2nd grow just harvest only got 15 grams but i didnt really look after that plant just let it grow if ya get me. so how much would you say to spend on a decent kit.?

I spent about a grand, lol.

Not to sure on prices on 150's mte, just don't go for the cheepest peace of shit on eBay that you can find. Ideally it's better to buy from a shop aswell. A shop will prob b a little bit more expensive but the other advantages out weigh this.

ha man if we werent living beside her parents gaf and running of their leccy id definitly be running around 600w, and buying out of a shop means travelling and im just 2 lazy for that, thats what post is there for.

so man you saying instead of having a 150w hps and a few cfls for side lighting get 250w.? keeping in mind that im trying to keep the bill down as much as posabil, and would a 250 be alright in the small space i have.?

I did a 600w HPS (without air cooling) in an 80x80x160 tent, which is only slightly larger than your space, so a 250w HPS should be perfect.

As far as electricity, a 250w HPS running 18/6 at 14c a unit is only €19.53 per 31 day month, a 400w only 3/5ths more at roughly 30 per 31 day month. When in flower it'll be 2/3 those amounts.

Electricity is only a concern with big grows, otherwise it's barely noticible.

Non-auto seeds gives you more options, you can grow them the same as autos by just doing 12/12 from seed, or you can veg them. Also autos are generally less potent than photoperiod strains (except Easy Ryder, it's bomb, I freaked out one day,was unexpectedly WAY TOO high!).

So Id say get photoperiod strains and grow them to suit you, don't get dictated to by auto seeds going auto.

so by doing photoperiod strains 12-12 from seed they'll finish up in around 3 mounths.? and buy doing 12-12 from seed do you use both spectrums from the start or when do you know to put in the red spectrum.?

madra just make sure it isnt getting too cold on a night in the attic. if its a seedling then maye 10 inches to a foot, you dont want to bake it. a lot of guys are using hps straight through and they having good results. good luck with it. are you gonna use the cfl aswell as the hps. you may aswell. how many plants you doing and what strain.
went up and took pics tinight of the passion#1, not sure if its herm or not so ill put pics up tomorrow and lets see what you guys think!

thanks man, the light is on during the night and off for just 2hrs during the day, theyre autoflowers so want to give them as much awake time as possible. During the day now is pretty cold too so im going to have to watch it them too. I just built a 32in x 32in square box at 4ft tall. The plants im growing are just small autoflowers so 4ft is perfect. I then taped all my reflective sheet to the inside of it. The front pannel sits in perfect into it so i will just be removing that for access. Made the box out of insulated plasterboard. My first grow was 2 pakistani ryders, second grow was an MI5, Northern Lights and Paki ryder. This one i started during the week is Fruit Automatic, Paki Ryder, and Spicy White Devil. Should all be ready for the end of Feb. Im just using the HPS, its enough i think so no point using another lamp when i dont plan on doing more than 3 plants at a time. The box is big enough for about 6 plants so if greed kicks in it can be modified and ill use the second lamp. Thanks for the interest!

was just up with them a few mins ago, they had been off an hour, i pulled the front of the box away a little and stuck my hand in and it was still kinda warm, even though the rest of the attic was fairly freezing, thats a win in my books! Here's to a larger yield than less than an oz over 3 plants!

Nice harr, I got a DWC setup now under a 400w MH/HPS setup, I wonder with enough veg time and topping if I could ever get close to a half pound plant. 2 months to 10 weeks should be enough to get her big enough I would imagine.

I got quite a bit today considering the amount of fuck-ups (timer, etc). Polyploid buds seem quite common with AK48...win in my book!

I'm not 100% certain what causes them but they're basically where a number of branches grow from a node instead of just one, give you super fat super dense nugs on that part.
Bizarrely some of the AK's had turned jet black and some a dark purple...I wonder if they mixed up the beans or were they just mutants.

that box i built is doing a great job! Much warmer in there now, and that HPS is going good too! I had to make a smaller box (32x32, 4ft tall) which seems ideal for 4 plants, would i get away with 4 small autoflowers under a 250w HPS? Smoking the Paki Ryder at the moment, much nicer after curing it even for just a couple days!
