Checked the seeds today after one day germinating and the fast bud has thrown out the taproot already, livin up to it's name rightly, the rest are commin on ok except the ak/blueberry but no rush. Goin for bio bizz soil or whatever the company name is, same total bloom nutrients with Co2 pellets, the ak's are commin on well too, the big girl is startin to puff out false seed pods now so I dare say next week she'll get the chop maybe a few days after, just hope the ufo gets here a week under that before harvest would be lovely.

How's everybody elses doin'?

Right guys need help, this is my second attempt at a grow of autos, these ones are Barneys Flower Power, But the same thing is happening as the last grow, I though i had over done something on the first grow so have only watered these new ones, and have only been watering oncew every 5 days but i am getting yellow veins in my new growth, I think it is MG deficiency, Can any one tell me if a feed of my Advance Nutrients BLOOM will sort this out??And also should i wait till next feeding ( only gave them water 2 days ago) or feed them straight away? Really starting to loose all hope of this growing lark...lol

I'm not to sure how much Mg is in bloom feed, you could try adding a small bit of Epsom salts or sulphate of ammonium when watering, what soil mix you using?

Its a soil i got in homebase with added john innes. On the ingredients on the bloom it has magnesium phosphate and sulphate but not sure how much.

Soil should be ok so, hopefully you didn't get homebase own soil as it's suppose to be crap. B & Q own stuff is suppose to be the best.
I'd say, if you haven't given them any feed yet then do so... But only half dose and then check them in 3 days time,
But that's only my opinion

lotusfeet, I grew a plant in a green house years ago. Just threw a bean in the dirt and watered once in a while. The thing grew about 7 and a half ft in a 6 ft green house and it was male:wall:

Kubla, what sort of cfl are you using? Are they 6500k? If so were did you get 'em?;-)
They're just bog standard daylight spectrum bulbs which means they're 2700k, but I was thinking that when I double the lighting I'd grab 6500ks alright. Where to get them is another question altogether!

My plan would be to change the single light fixtures I have at the moment to the Y mounts which take two bulbs, so I could have one 2700k and one 6500k for each plant. Does that sound like a decent approach or...?

Also, head wouldbe wrecked on that plant turning out to be male, that would fit into my luck exactly, a monster plant but of no use at all!!I guess when at first you don't succeed... pray to jesus for females the next time :D

Thats the soil that fried my sensi star in a previous grow , have you pictures of the affected plant / plants ?
If you are growing auto's with it the soil alone should have enough nutes for the entire grow , my guess is the plant is starting to burn I would add nothing but Black strap Mollases if I was you but I could also be wrong

hi guys thanks for the crossed fingers with my first topping but i have to say after a day she(?) is coming along great, the two little bits on either side of the node are starting to shoot up a bit so hopefully thats the two main branches. i have a pic and will add it with a few more so you can see step by step!
irish mc i dont know where the raid was but defo local and the garda gave an apology to the woman. the infrared on the police chopper picked up the heat signature coming from shed and thought it was weed!lmao! old biddys pets getting raided by the fuzz.
jingle, im sure things will be alright but like a lot of us i think you are looking a bit too hard at your plants, are the leaves nice and green?. the soil you buy in woodies and those places says there is enough nutes for six weeks which is bollocks, we are growing weeds on 24 hr light so the rule book goes out the window a bit in our case, the stuff i used was similar but i had to start using nutes at three weeks, you are growing autos which i believe need more so i agree with jay and give them a half strength of nutes and make sure that they need another water by checking with the weight of the pot. dont just say 5 days they must need water because they might not, also dont go near epsom salts, i used it and it totally stumped the growth on one of my plants. others will probs say just use a tiny bit. personally i think you need to give nutes and time. how old and how many sets of branches are on the plants, any pics. my plants have what could be called yellowish veins but they are perfect. also check them in a different light because certain bulbs put off a certain glow.
anyway sorry for writing so much and ill talk to you guys later

I'd agree with what Jay and lu say there jingle, give them a half shot of nutrients then leave them to their own devices, the best advice I've ever got off anyone who used to grow commercially is "it's just a weed so treat it just like a weed" in other words don't overcomplicate the process unless your trying to get serious yeilds, the autos will give you a minimum of 20g anyway provided you don't get a dwarf like I did. Getting the oz a plant really depends more on the light, output, air circulation and size of your pot. 5 litre minimum pot size and you'll have no worries, as for nutrients and that use half doses the whole way through and water when the top half inch of soil is dry and you'll be sweet.

Well thanks for everyones help, I gave them a little feed last night, I used 1.75ml of Advanced Nutrients Bloom feed in with 2ltr of water and feed the plant about 1ltr, hopefully this will work. I will have a little check on them tonight, Should i notice a difference if it is working or will it take a few days?

You might see a difference later on today but I use to leave it 2 days before comparing results, this way it's easier to see if it has worked or not.
The ultimate way to know if your plant needs watering is simply lift the pot a gauge how much water is in the pot, different soil mixes drain at different speeds. The last soil mix I used I found the top would be like dust yet the bottom of the pot was still damp.
If your using just peat based compost then the chances are that it will drain freely, this meaning that when the top layer is dry then the rest of the pot won't be far behind but like I say the best way is just to lift the pot.
Also, when watering make sure you don't get any dry pockets in your soil, I use to combat this by spraying the top layer with water and leaving it for a min or two before watering as normal, this will also aid the compost to absorb the water as intended.

My last tip, to aid the intake of water from the plants, don't use freezing cold water to water your plants as it'll shock the roots, I use to keep my watering can in the grow room as this would raise the temp slightly or you could just add a bit of warm water to your watering can as you go along... Careful though as you don't want to over do it and poach your roots....!

Just finished reading a interesting article about a guy that ran his own test on a group of plants using perlite and without, and guess what, the plants without perlite grow twice as well as the others.... He was using a peat based compost... So my next grow im going to give the perlite a miss....

Anyway enough of me, best of luck...

Ordered the 600w HPS kit special on at Tarahydroponics.com, gonna build it into my own custom grow box and sit my Aerogarden inside it too. Anyone had experience with that crowd?
