heres a few pics guys of the grow, its coming along ok now but i cant wait until its finished, they are really responding well with the flush and the bio bloom nutes, i think the other stuff i had was shit, well they were planted on 8 sep so i guess they still have another while to go yet, i thought they were supposed to grow a little bit slower when they were in flower, because they are still sprouting new shoots and flowers!
how long would u says left and are the buds on blue cheese supposed to smell sweet and friuty ish.
thanks

Lookin very nice luc, by the looks of things I'd say you have another 4 weeks-ish maybe a week extra but I wouldn't be 100% by just lookin at the photos, hows the UFO goin for ye?

Jay your sayin rather than me buyin the extra cfl that electricity wise I'd be just as good with a HPS? I thought the CFL's used maybe 20p a day or less and accordin to reports it's around a quid a day for HPS from 250w up, I didn't think it would be close runnin cost wise, I was thinkin about a HPS cause I can still get that kit for £100 it's a 250w light, ballast. ballast fan, oscillatin fan and a shitload of plant pots if I want them too, the LED's seem to be the new way to go for me though especially with these cree led bulbs, did you ever see this video?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fh9oGroryoc

I know it's tomatos in the video but the growth pattern would be the same.

My 400w HPS costs €37.66 a month for veg and €25.11 for flower...thats cos Iv got a 24 hour plan too, if you were to run it on nightsaver it'd be even cheaper. Consider how much you'd spend on crappy smoke and its not expensive at all, and a 400w HPS makes the most beautiful buds :)

yes the led is going very well and i havnt even noticed a difference with electric costs at all, the plants are budding up a good bit now but one in particular is fattening up really well, the smell of them is very fruity indeed(sweet) and they are covered in sticky drops, which i think is a good thing. they have stopped growing up and seem to be packing on some amount of foliage(i never thought i would ever say FOLIAGE, proper gardener) which is all down low, the thing i like about the led the most is the temps, they produce a small amount of heat and this keeps temps in the cupboard at about 20 degrees, i am having the lights on at night and off during the day. i am very glad i bought the led.
doiremick i would reccomend you buy one of either the blue cfls or get one of the high powered ones on here that someone posted a link for at 14.99. i think yours may be missing some of the light they need in the lower spectrum, but like you i only read books and what ive learned, no expert( which is why i ask u for help at times!
ill keep updating on how they are.

My plants have really come on in the last two days, root mass has exploded, some of them have roots sticking out the bottom of the 10L pot at multiple points so I take it the transplant stress is over! Will start nuting them Sunday week, I think the fresh All-Mix I just transplanted into will have enough nutes in it until then. Hopefully should be able to start the LST in a couple days. Anyone got any 400w HPS Irish grows they wanna show me?

mick,ud be way better off with a 250w hps than 2 125w cfls.

cfls are cheaper...assuming ur using like 6 32x equivilents! 250w is the same electricity, wether its hos or cfl!

i tried leds last year, not a patch on the hps! go for that deal tho, its great for 100 quid!

So much to think about :P Thanks for the advice lads I'll get more of a read into the different lights and see how the ak's go with the CFL in the meantime.

The Auto-AK's do REALLY well under HPS I can tell you first hand :) Oh and I cant overestimate how much they really really REALLY stink when they're flowering, just so you know!

i thought the 150w hps used about 3-350 watts of leccy and the 250w used about 4-450 watts, lots of reading on it. as far as the research i did just because its a 150w and 250w bulb it doesnt means it uses that from the mains. if you dont go anything dear then just get a nice 45w cfl hovering above its head and when its in flower its gonna kiss you for the red cfl you got. good luck fella and i hope all goes well this time round.
i personally would not have been able to keep temps down from such a lamp, as my area is too small.

Depends on ballast I think, most digis only use like 20-40 watts as far as I know, and the bulb once its fired up should only draw its listed wattage, otherwise the ballast wouldnt work.

Nice bit of reading that..

Our lamps over here don't need so many amps as we run the higher 240v grid, however it my prove to be more expensive to run than first thought...
All this in mind, Id still go for HID lighting where possible and have a powerful air exchange system to keep temps down..

On a different note here are my autos...
Not much to see, except one of them failed to come up.. maybe a bit of time but im not hopeful..

As well as the seedlings I have taken clones of Church...

And here how it all fits in to my "Potting Shed"

Thanks for the warning harrekin :D I heard they were pretty smelly but I'm guessin its bad if your sayin that haha wonder if anyone can help me though, I hope and pray its overwatering done it but the 2 big ones are gettin spots and the leaves are dying :( not good, it could be the cold also but I'm not sure cause the cupboard seems pretty warm when I open it for a look, I didn't get this problem with the last grow but I didn't overwater her either so I hope thats all it is, i'll get a pic up soon I don't have the camera on me at the minute and my phone wouldn't have the detail but it's like light green/sick green type colour but I'm a bad judge cause I'm colourblind, any guesses?

Thanks for the link too luc it's a good read.

Your better off underwatering than overwatering, makes your root system much stronger, roots are forced to go looking for water.

I know dude the reason they would be overwatered is because I used coco husks and compost but I forgot it had it in there and watered until it came out the bottom, big mistake cause the coco can hold some amount of water.

So any ideas as to what it could be? Personally I think it was the water and I'm prayin its not the cold cause its gonna get worse weather wise, if it does I'll just buy a heater for the cupboard and set it to come on half an hour or hour every 4/5, if its overwatering would I be wise puttin the plants beside a heater until they dry out a bit?

I think it could be over watering, I have a plant with the same trouble and Im nearly sure its down to over watering...
What temps you got there...? Mine is ranging from 11.5c when the light is off up to 27.5c when the light is on which isn't suppose to be too good for the plants cos of such a differance in temps..
Last year i did go down the same road and buy a little electric blower heater, but i made sure it had its own thermostat, worked well but can be costly...

Don't know what temperatures cause I haven't spent much on the grow equipment and that, plannin on movin house soon so can't afford too much. Just as you say temperature drops it could be that aswell cause it gets a bit nippy in here sometimes unless its warm and since I work I can't be in to have a fire lit all the time :( I'm thinkin on buyin a small radiator heater, I know the blow heater would double as a fan but they eat the electric far more than the mini radiators, I can get that on a timer then to come on every few hours and it stays warm after it goes off. Cheers jay, I'll keep an eye on the temperatures and I doubt the plants will need watered for a few weeks with the amount absorbed by the potting mixture so I can only assume I'll see them get better as they go along.

i am in exactly the same boot as you, i need a little heater cos where i have the plants the heat generated from the light is being vented straight out into the room, which is freezing on a night. they are ok during the day(there dark) cos central heating is on in the house. i am going to start looking now for some kind of heater but i dont hold out much luck, all the ones i have seen are like 2000 watts, last night i put the ventelation on a timer to go off half hour on half hour off, but even that did not make much of a difference so ill try to have it on 15 mins in every hour and see what temps are like, last night the temps were 15c!!! i could not believe it. no wonder the plants are so sticky with resin.
so plant gurus
how often would i need to have the ventilation on in the grow cupboard to keep temps up a bit?
anyone know of a cheap way to heat? (we may aswell save the world on a side note!
im looking into a solution now so ill let you know what i find out. i wont have the room in the grow room for a radiator heater which is what a lot of people do.
thanks
