The ins and outs of lollipopping?

I've got the basic idea about cutting off the lower third of the plant growth to concentrate everything to the main stem but I'm curious about what time to start pruning the plant?

I'm using an aero system and they've been vegging in there for a week and a half now, about 8" tall I plan to flower once the first one reaches 12". I was curious if pruning while only 2 weeks in was ok or would this hinder the growth since they're still so young?

If any of you have some good pictures, or general guidelines about lollipopping I'd love to hear/see them.

Thanks!

two weeks into flowering is the latest you should do it. you can do it after that but you'll slow down flowering times as the plant recovers. i would start cutting the lower sets as soon as your plant is ready for pruning, preferably while its still in veg state.

my plants are semi lolipop'd and lst'd.

I started lollipopping my old plant 2 weeks before flowering, and used all the cuttings for clones.

Well i'm only veging them out for 2 weeks, going to switch to flower tonight. So if you can do it up to two weeks should I just wait until next week or so?

Or should I start pruning anything off lower third continually up until 2 weeks into flower?

They' re ranging from 5-10" at the moment, maybe I should do the taller ones now and let the shorter of the bunch catch up?

Just wait until the lower 1/3 of the plant's branches are big enough to take decent clones from. ( at least 3 nodes) . As soon as that happens, you might as well start cutting them off.

hey fade, is there any negative effects to that? i did mine 2-3 weeks into flower as well and there are some more stuff that needs to be trimmed and its about 1 month in now.

I veg for 2 weeks and they lolipop on there own about 3 weeks into flower....bottom 1/3 fan leafs drop off...and top bud sites are tight and form one big cola all the sites seem to grow together.....wish I had digital cam...I contribute alot of the tightness to my side lighting.....dual 36 inch T8's on each side running vertical.....I trim from time to time to ensure all sites get light....

I'm wondering too I got a little happy with the clippers today and my light trim was more substantial taking off all the weak lower stuff about 5 weeks into flowering. What kind of slow down did I most likely just cause?
