The humbling experience of a first time grower

Hey all. After years of apartment living I bought a home this year and was finally able to make a long time dream come true. My only grow experience has been a cfl speaker box stealth grow that yielded nothing but headache. I was finally able to splurge on a 4x4 tent, 2 spiderfarmer sf2000 and all the various fixins. I had some old seeds from an overseas seedbank order in plastic baggies and labeled as freebies. I wasnt expecting much and Of the 10 seeds only the HSO blue dream fem popped. After putting the seedling with a tiny bit of taproot poking out into a plug to grow I hopped online in an attempt to get some seeds asap and give my only child some siblings to grow with. I ended up buying some Purple Chem, Purple crash and Purple Larry seeds from Greenpoint seeds due to the easy payment methods and reviews of fast shipping. The shipping was indeed fast and by that time next week I had decided to soak and attempt to plant 3 purple chem and 3 purple crash seeds.

It was then that disaster struck. On the day before the storm that would rock western Massachusetts I was tending to my lovely little Blue dream plant. Two and a half weeks into a strong veg cycle I was on top of the world. Nearby a single purple crash (only 1 germed) and 2 purple chem seedlings had just broken the soil and were saying hello to the world. The storm was quick and the power was out within seconds. Thinking this would be a few hours inconvenience all the plants were moved to the large back window to get some more sunshine until the power returned. A few hours later and it was clear how widespread the damage was. What followed was 3 days and nights of charging every single led light in my shop and garage to ensure that at the very least I could avoid the Blue dream from starting to flower. I was heartbroken that the little seedlings had to enter the world under such harsh conditions.

Once the power was restored I rushed to get the seedlings back into the warm tent and under the power of the led panels. As the days progressed I was pleased to find that the purple crash and one chem were growing strong however the other chem was looking rough. Its tiny first leaves were crinkly and twisted, I feared the worst. Good news was the Blue dream took the abuse of those three days and was looking better than ever. Fast forward to late October. The plants are all in their final homes. Blue dream in a 5 gallon and all other in 3 gallon fabric pots filled with FFOF. Everyone has been topped and LST training is working, Im thinking this growing thing isnt so hard after all. Days later and my vigorous Blue dream is drooping, Lower leaves fading and looking generally yellowed. At this time I am not ph-ing my water (tap is at 7,5 ph) and was about to learn a lesson in nutrients. I had spent so much time focusing on growing the best nugs and planning for harvesting the fruits of my labor that I had overlooked the basics. I first assumed the Blue dream had spider mites. Why? I cant even tell you. One too many vodkas and joints and surfing forums without the knowledge to understand the info I was reading and I was convinced. After a rush order Im misting a smite solution all over each and every plant. Surprise surprise nothing has changed except my purple chem is mad at me and the blue dream continues to worsen. My mistake was assuming that the FFOF had enough nutrients to supply my plant 4 weeks into veg and not understanding what my lack of ph adjustment was doing. The leaves on the BD were yellowing with rust spots and all new growth had taken on a lime green color. I figured it was time to do something, anything, because she wasnt gonna make it otherwise. Combing deficiency charts I figured the closest match was a Mag deficiency. Doing some reading and lurking here I made myself an epsom salt spray to feed my plant until my calmag and ff trio nutes came in. The change was almost immediate. The plant perked up by morning and now on a steady diet of 5ml calmag when watered as well as half strength nutes just to get her acclimated and over my abuse.

Today I have 5 plants in my 4x4. The hso BD which is growing new healthy green growth and her smaller sisters. A strong purple chem, a so so Purple crash (smaller in general than the chem), a lemon cookies clone from a friend and the purple chem with the weird tiny leaves that had a very rough go breaking soil in the middle of my power outage. The wrinkly leaves chem appears to be a tiny mutant or something with very interesting leaves and is in general tiny. But I figure I owe it to her to see it to the end. I plan on flipping to 12/12 next week maybe after thanksgiving just to give the Blue dream another week of recovering before we start the show. She does already have preflowers and Im very excited to see what next.
This is a terribly addicting activity and its funny how fast a focus on yield and end product can turn into a passion for caring for other living things and continuing to learn and grow as a person.

Sorry for the long winded auto biography. I am excited by all of your grows look froward to continue learning from this community.
