So I'll be acquiring some Humulus Lupulus bare roots this season to have a go at this lovely vine.
I was hoping to spark some others to join. Maybe some pros can chime in on where to find good seeds. Burpee has bare roots and strictlymedicinal has some seeds. Will report back with pics!

I started growing hops last year. They only got to about 5 feet tall but I've heard the first season is just getting the roots established. Make sure the soil drains well, the rhizome can rot pretty easily if the soil is poor.

This year the shoots are coming out like crazy and they're definitely going to hit 15' by the end.

Thanks for the tip! Sounds friggin' awesome.. I'd love to see some pics if you find the time later on this season. Do you know where I can get any good seeds? I'm struggling to find more.

I have a lot of hops, but apparently no photos. They over grew the poles and they "take over" the fence in the back ground. No clue what kind, I bought the house last year and knew they were there but nothing else. I Befriended a local brewmaster and we made beer and a tincture for fun. I got 3 or 4 "doors" worth of hops. Pic is of one gone and the other being harvested.

Damn, how are they smelling? Lookin' good. Hoping to utilize plants for privacy this year instead of waiting 5 years on my evergreens to fill out. Wooden gates with hops, cucumbers, shit even morning glorys if that's what it's going to take. Sick of seeing my damn neighbors from my backyard!

Hops are as easy as it gets. I was big into brewing and did some work for a micro back in the day. I got some from him, they came from Germany. I've been growing them since about '06

There will only be privacy in the summer fall.....they do grow quick but die.

If you're looking to harvest they like to and can grow very tall. A horizontal cable between two polls about 20' high, string attached to an anchor point on the ground and the other end a hook. You can take down the hooked end to harvest on the ground. But that would be more for larger scale or production.

I haven't made beer in years. It's fun to do and enjoy.
