The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly - First grow, DWC/LED closet.

I've got two closet tents, each with 2 matching strain plants, but a different strain in each tent.

Each plant has its own 270w draw "600W" LED, and are all running the same nutes, as shown. Water temps are just below 70. 5.7ph, 800ish ppm. I'd guess I'm around a month into these now.

The larger plants, Sour Crack Autoflower from Mephisto, seem to be doing pretty well. Plenty of root mass, and growing every day. The smaller strain really seems to be struggling. I believe I over watered them at the beginning, but they seem to be recovering. The slightly larger of the two has a few roots down in the res, while the runt just now has some very small roots peeking down out of the net pot.

Any thoughts on the slow growth in the smaller plants aside from them being grown by a person who has never done this before, and overwatering?

They seem like they are happy. Mabey just squat indicas sometimes the squat ones take a while to get some height but your nodes look nice and close.
Whats the humidity?

Is there a chance you simpley hurt the tap root on the runty one? Ive heard that hydroton has a tendency to pinch roots i only used it once as i didnt cart for it and switched to grow stones for net pots

Actually, I've definitely caused a little trauma to the taproot on the smallest one. Probably both of them. I germed them in a peat pellet, but I was worried that I had compressed the pellet too much around the root, so I ended up peeling the pellet off of the roots. Then, as soon as the root got a few inches into the water, it broke off on an air hose when I was topping off. That was yesterday, however it's got a number of others peeking out of the net pot today.

My humidity floats between 30-40%. I actually bought a whole house humidifier, because I was in the low teens when I started these seeds. It really seemed to help.

Think I should carry on with the smallest one and see how it does, or scrap it in favor of germing another seed that might do much better? It was looking pretty rough a week ago, all yellow and very lopsided. In the last week, it's turned a very nice green and started putting out very small, but well shaped leaves.

Yea sometimes they bounce back and sometimes they stay slow.

One of the hardest things for me to learn was how not to mess with my seedlings.....i dont want to think about how many beans i PAID for that i LOVED to DEATH Lol.... leave em be till they grow out past the embryonic leaves

You might as well keep her besides as squat as the others like to grow you might be vegging for a little while anyway but its great if your low on room just takes veg time

I noticed when my humidity climed to 55 to 60 my growth increased a lil but better TOO DRY then TOO WET

Edit to add also seedling are kinda slow tile they get a few weeks old especially if you damage the taproot.

Try spouting seeds in rockwool ive had good luck with it and im experimenting with air pruning seedling roots and its going well they dont seem to mind if their roots are naturally damaged by air

Will do! They're looking pretty good today, but the second smallest one has two leaf blades that have a little curling on the ends, and they're very soft. About to check my ph/ppm in a sec. I may have upped things too much when I changed the water the other day. it's a couple of the bigger leaves, all the new growth is looking great.

The small ones have half the recommended on all my nutes. the larger two, I upped to the recommended doses for early veg, and they seem to be enjoying it. Since it's only a couple of leaf blades, I'm gonna see how it looks tomorrow. If it's gotten worse or shows no improvement, I'll adjust that bucket.

For seedlings i always started at 1/4 strrnght

You can always bump it up but you cant unburn em lol
Every time you bump it up watch the leaf tips if they curl or burn obviously its too much

Good call. I was at 1/4 up until last night. I'll take out some of the water and replace it with clean PH'd water.

The bigger pair are really blowing up!!! lots of bud sites, and so many leaves that I worry they're blocking some of the light. Should I be pruning or cleaning these up in some way? Also, some of the larger leaves are starting to turn yellowish. Is this a sign of a deficiency? (Last photos are of these plants.

Alright, so the smaller pair are doing a lot better. Starting to see some growth and pistils - however, some of my larger leaves are showing some signs of something (nutrient burn?). You can see the browning of the larger leaves. I assumed I just fed them too many nutrients, so I just PH'd some water, and added only the cannazym and root beneficials. All the new leaves are coming up green. I'm hoping this is gonna be alright. I'm about to do a water change. Think it's safe to start feeding them some nutrient solution again?
