My only ice fishing escapades were in my twenties and mainely a drinking affair.
I get jealous in the winter seeing guys pulling big fish out of the ice.

Insulated with woodstoves, and an rv making hot food on the shore. They would cut the ice with chainsaws as the tide went out to prevent splitting. We would do the night tides, like 7 to 7

Spring time ice out crappies and perch, rainbow opener spawn run and channel cats. Bigguns.
Early summer time break kinda (unless fishing streams up north for rainbows and brookies) mid summer walleye on harnesses and cranks and muskie with bucktails then fall time walleye still, salmon run on spoons cranks and skein , browns spawn run and rainbows bottom bouncing and float fishing, along with the great fall muskie gorging, once ski close it's waiting for the hardwater to lock up and it's lather rinse repeat!

That changes the rules from basic to hightec. Akin to steroids in sports.

I have played Rock, Paper, Scissors with a street merchant.
He wins I pay full price for the "sweet treat".
I win the treat is proffered at no charge.

It was a fun event for strangers and kept me coming back just for the entertainment as the "sweet treat" sucked. lol

I did not keep score over the total matches we enjoyed but I guess we each won for the communication barrier that
we overcame.
