The Entitlement Reform Debate

Social Security is not an entitlement. I've been paying into it for 3 decades. It's a safety net that we all pay into. Damned good thing we have it. Looked at your IRA over the last few years? How's your real estate value doing the last 6 years?

Here's my problem w/ what many on the right call "reform." What that really means is cutting social services for the very poorest in our society and raising their tax burden while reducing the burden on the very wealthiest amongst us. The notion that all those at the top would then allow that $ to trickle down through the economy is laughable and historically a false logic. If that fallacy actually worked our economy would be booming. The top brackets have had their income explode over the last 2 decades while the rest of us have stagnated economically.

That's hypocrisy at it's height and just plain bad policy.
If you get paid 5 to 10 times what you put in then it is an entitlement...

That post has no merit at all to what Drama had said... Anyway

What about the ethics of the entitlement system? How ugly is the fraud behind this beast? It's been said before and I'll say it again, It's morally bankrupt.. Draining the middle class & benefits the wealthy by handing out corporate subsidies, tax breaks, and Bailouts.

Very few people "worship" the constitution. It is OK to object to any part of it, but it is not OK as a matter of public policy to simply disobey it as nearly all of the presidents and congresses have done. Amending the constitution is constitutional. If you want to change the constitution all you have to do is get 3/4 of the states to go along with you and it is a done deal.

Don't like the limitations placed on the feds by the commerce clause, then amend the constitution to revoke the commerce clause or reword it to say that Congress may regulate commerce (or not-commerce) between any individuals anywhere in the US.
