As the title states, this will be an organic grow (at least as organic as possible) for 2 strains both by Barney's Farm: Tangerine dream (Sativa dom and more updeat effect) and Pineapple Chunk (indica dom with a more of a relaxing and sedative effect) in a 4x4 tent.
Lighting: 600w MH/HPS (supplemented in flowering with an additional 350w COB LED 4K color spectrum). The HID is in a 8" cooling tube with an 8" fan. An addional tent extraction 8" fan to keep the air circulating and will be hooked to a 30"long×10"diam scrubber when the smell kicks in. 2 fans to circulate the air in the tent and around the branches.
Feeding: Hoping for water only til the end with supplementing with teas and top dressing here and there. But if needed, i have general organics GO box handy (thoughts??) (Using it in teas possibly too ... thoughts?)
Soil mix to a total of 2.5cf split in 2x 9gal pots plus leftover :
1/3 FFOF (peat based and amended heavily). It felt very fluffy and airy to touch. First and second pic
1/3 FF CocoLoco (coco based and nicely amended). It felt a little fine-grainy 3rd and 4th pics
1/3 aeration: (consisting of 1/3 of each: construction sand, happy frog soil conditioner and perlites). This soil mix is coarse-grainy but very airy although with a nicey heavy body and structure. 5th and 6th pic and 7th all mixed. (Thoughts on this?)
The 8th pic is of the final mixture of soil before adding my amendments. Mixing all together gives me the advantages of both peat and coco from the first and second parts of the mix. Theyre both aerated with perlites out of the bag. Therefore i wanted my additional 1/3 aeration to have sand as part of it. I didnt want to lose too much organic composition in the mix and thus i added 1/3 of the aeration portion of Happy Frog soil conditioner (see pic for ingredients)
Amendments (still haven't been added so please let me know if I should decrease or increase or drop any):
2 cups rock dust (actually dust acquired from Marble/Granite joint)
2 cups happy frog tomatoes n veggies
2 cups happy frog bulb food for higher p/k for flowering.
2 cups ground up rabbit food for alfalfa+ meal?
1 cup bat guano high N
1 cup bat guano high P
(Also have happy frog steames bone meal if needed to be added .... and I can get some algae from a nearby beach and dry it up for kelp meal??)
This mix will be allowed to cook for at least 4 weeks (watered with EWC/Great White tea for a jump start) while i germinate the seeds and sprout them in rooting plugs (2 weeks) and veg the seedlings in 50%CocoLoco & 50% aerating mix as above for 2-4 weeks getting them ready for the hot soil and the flip
I will put the girls in the final 9gal pots right before I flip to 12/12 and give them a few days to recover any shock.
Any thoughts on the soil mix or amendments or what i am doin are more than welcome and appreciated ... as this is my first organic run and first time playing around with dirt like this and with some background knowledge haha
My last soil grow was in a simple 1part sand 1part peat and 1part perlite (EWC and guano added) then simply fed with FloraNova
Thank yall in advance and til next update, happy growin
P.S: current run getting wrapped up to clear the tent out for this one. The timer was busted so it screwed it all up for me hence this run hah
