For a while there, I was telling the likes of Deprave and other independants to quit dreaming third party. My rationale was that they stood no chance, could give the election to the weaker of the dichotomy and that the 3 party systems of both Mexico and Canada are no more effective. Of these 3 premises, the first two have been cast into doubt, I still firmly believe the third. Particularly in Mexico. However, the US is a different lot. In the US, left leaning people seem to bear the brand of "commy sympathyser" which I find out dated and absurd. The other difference I see, is the realistic prospect that the GOP could really be in final death throes and this is rather exciting. This could lead very directly to real democracy as any real opposition to the dems in 2016 would truly be a grassroots movement.

Pure fantasy. There is no more reason to believe the Republican party is "in final death throes" than Democratic part is.
Personally there will never be a viable third party until we get the money out of politics, Corporate, and Union. The way campaigns are financed needs to change drastically. Sorry I missed your 3 "premises", but if you think anything in the Governement in Mexico works right you are mistaken.

Congress debates the ideas. The President sets the agenda. Any details are the subject to compromise in the Process, with the President leading and not being handled by Ideologs. Supposedly.

The implementation and consequence is the job of Congress.

I relate to Gary Johnson on way more issues than either of the 2 but because of our present system nobody knows who this guy is or what he stands for.

I wish we could have that but, what you speak of is pure fiction. In an ideal world we would all love it if everyone's bills were paid for free. We would also wish everyone had extra spending money and had a retirement fund.

But we cant have both, fulfilling one leaves the other unnecessary.
