The Daily Bud

I'm loving this thread:) Perfect timing too. I just sampled Vortex for my first time literally about 20 min ago.....the descriptions are exactly what I experienced. I also have a 10 pack of Vortex that is getting cracked soon soon, and I am VERY excited now. Phenomenal smoke.

this might be kinda a dumb question but how do you get full melt hash? is it just that it is 100% trics with no other plant matter? Are bubble bags the only way to get full melt?

i assume thats full melt cause it looks DAMN GOOD

or Deep Purple I am not sure I loved these seeded bud shots and here is part 2 of Purple

The Urkle

Purple Urkle is a clone only strain that seems to be the rage among med clubs and Cannabis connoisseurs, Danny Danko asked me to do some research on it and tell of our current project using the clone mother. Her traits are slow growth, turning an amazing color or Purple late in bloom and having the most amazing Grape/lavender taste and also a nice stone. But where did it come from?

Purple Urkle or Humboldt Purple “aka” Purple Urple ...has been grown by folks in Southern Humboldt since 'approx.' 1989...the Mendo catz are responsible for renaming it "Lavender", among others...A good friend “White Trash Redneck” has grown the Mendocino "Lavender" cut side by side with the Humboldt Purple Urple/Urkle, as well as Bridgeville Black Afghan, Nepalean Purple, Pakistani Purple Kush, & Tuity Fruity Purple...he swears there all the same cut just renamed. He also went on to tell me that the Humboldt Purple cut seems to be an old school IBL...and.....it's 'very' breed worthy...He has made better than 20 Urkle hybrids and has been impressed with all of them. I don’t think Grape Ape is the same cutting however, The grape ape I’ve seen has been pretty decent smoke, comparable to the granddad. No purple I’ve smoked except for straight Urkle has been decently potent

Other names I have uncovered that are likely the same cutting are:
Garberville PK... aka Swerve's Cut
Mendocino PK
Kyle Kushman's PK
"K's", PK

As Quoted by an internet source

” Kyle Kushman's "Purple Kush" is the plant that made him famous as a photograph of it made the cover of the "New Yorker" magazine about 12 years ago. It was not a weed publication and the article just stated how much real money is made by indoor gardening based on the black market forces and the technology that were in place then (grow lights, seeds, hydro systems, etc). In the article it is stated by the grower (assumably Kyle) that the plant was found in a group of Northern Lights x Purple Indica seeds. Kyle was living out East at the time and soon became a writer for High Times Magazine.

I think some confusion comes from the fact that Kyle now lives out west now.
However, the Purple Kush in Northern Cali has been there long before Kyle made his pilgrimage out West. I cannot tell you the exact pedigree. But I would assume that the Mendocino and Garberville versions are the exact same as this is prime herb growing country here in N. Cali. It would be really easy for one grower to give another clone to a fellow grower. The Green Triangle (Humboldt, Mendocino, and Trinity Counties) is known for the amount of MJ produced there, both indoor and outdoor.”

I first enjoyed this Urkle strain grown out by Sticky Lungs himself and I must say it was one of the better samples of cannabis I had all year. For a young dude he shows an amazing understanding of the plant and his relationship with its dankness. I also smoked his Trainwreck and did not really like it just to establish I don’t like all strains.

I grew out the cutting Sticky Lungs gave me along with the Trainwreck and in the end I liked the TW grown in my garden about as much as his. The Urkle fooled me though, it took so long to get going I had her in the rear of the garden and in the last 2 weeks she just filled out some massive rock hard colas that slowly started to fade to purple. Now I must stress I intentionally kept her in a warm area with no cold nights and I maxed out my super soil so that zero fading could occur. Basically I had the Nitrogen levels super high to make sure she was green to the end. If this girl turned colors I wanted it to be naturally occurring.
The combination of TrainWreck & Humboldt Purple Urple/Urkle won(tied, actually, with Sour Diesel) the US Cannabis Cup a year ago.

Lets Look at her growing up from Cutting.
The plants simply loved super soil it was just slow......

As the plant matured it was extremely dark green and total Indica at week 5 she was barely turning purple but it was all in the genetics because day and night temps were running in the high 70’s I didn’t add any fertilizers other than sucanat and sweatleaf.
In the end the buds were a beautiful Purple, almost Black Plum colored and the flavor is out of this world. I like to contrast the taste with another strain like Jack the Ripper that’s completely different and lemony harsh. When you have a binger(Bonghit) of Urkle it taste so good I almost always take to much in and get a giant head rush. This isn’t whimpy bud either with a heavy Indica influence its buzz is great for nighttime. I like to pour a nice strong sweet coffee to go with a joint of this super sweet strain. I notice living full time with a bud garden some times my senses are numbed down and I have to leave the house to really smell what our weed is like.

But everyone asks "What does that Urkel taste and smell like?"

I always say "Purple". Some say grape candy....but "Purple" makes complete sense once you grow and smoke any Urkle crosses.

One day I rode out to one of my favorite cruising and picture taking roads and took a small glass jar with a bud of lavender with me. When broke it up and smoked some in a small glass pipe I was amazed at how much like lavender it really tasted. I guess the I decided to cross her and then I had to decide between SQ or JTR. I think the long arms of Space Queen and her soft Cherry flavor just might create some amazing dankness. Typically with Indicas’s our boy has a soft influence but only time will tell.

I have spend many wasted dollars trying purple samples both in the US and in the UK as well as Canada but until Sticky Lungs passed this cut to me, and I was not overly impressed with the taste of any of them and you know me I am into taste as much as potency. If Urkle has a down side its how slow she grows after rooting. In soil I had to take cuts a full month before the rest of my strains just so she could have a chance of keeping up. One thing Space Dude (our Space Queen breeding male) is good for is adding some speed and stretch to most of his sibling crosses and we hope the combination of potency and heavy resins will make a killer cross.

Breeding in the winter is a bit different than the summer in that the breeding closet we use now is not heated and being remote from the home its cold as hell out there. He developed nicely but has been kinda hanging on here the last few days so I have decided to move the 400 watt light over him to warm things up and get the party started. I have Urkle clones in two stages one budding now almost 27 days and one budding like 22 I will decide which one is best but the older one may be to far along to finish the seeds before finishing.

After three days of hanging out with the Space Dude I took advantage of a nice sideways rain storm to let her naturally wash off. Its important I do this well as she will re enter my main bud room. All plants are sprayed heavily with water and so is she several times before returning to the main bud room.I may have pollinated her a bit late but I will just leave her in flower until the seeds are completely done. Within a few weeks you could see the seeds starting to form and I love the way the yellow seeds contrast against the purple buds it looks kinda Alien to me, like something Dr Smith would need the robot to help him with. Danger! Danger! Will Robinson Warning Warning.

**Seeded Bud Shots**

We germinated the seeds and started growing them out of 5 test starts we got 4 nice females and around day 45 we started budding them. The 4 girls were labeled and tracked through bud while friends of TGA grew out and we settled on the silly but catchy name Querkle for our little experiment. At day 35 we have amazing lavender/cherry smells just as we hoped to create and at day 38 the plant MzJill choose as the best early on is getting that tell tale fade to Purple on the edge of her calyx and her smell is intoxicating.

**Qurkle Budding pics**
We have also located an amazing Purple colored male Querkle that we have back crossed to the Urkle Mother plant making the first Urkle Back cross.

**Querkle male macros**

We are also doing something pretty exciting with Urkle BX and all Breedbay regulars that have a digi cam and a 1k light will get a free pack of this new hybrid. You can see the seeds forming in this Purple Cola.

Other Purple Strains floating around the US

Querkle and Urkle BX are available at trusted distributors of fine medical cannabis

Great pictures Sub

Have you tried those smart pots?

If I am asking in the wrong area I do apologize and from looking at your container you do not use anything smaller than a 5 gallon bucket for flowering ?

And or what is your rules are far as container size vs plant size?

Thanks
