5th attempt and only $450 in? Dude, keep going. LAY OFF THE FRIGGING NUTRIENTS! Hear me now - KISS! Keep It Simple, Stupid!

All you need is a container and decent gardening soil to put in it. A seed to put in that and tap water to feed her. Put a real 55-watt CFL in 6500 K in a cheap ass bowl reflector over it and wait. Do NOT overwater. NO NUTRIENTS. KISS! It will grow unless you f^%k with it too much.

BTW you might consider opening another account with another name.

Most of problems are just stunted growth, light green leaves, or they just stop growing on first set of leaves. Medium is Royal Gold Basement and lights are 2 T5's. 4" exaust fan...at the moment 2 of 4 are doin good...three weeks in...water needed about once a week...why name change?

The joke is your thumb is brown but your name is green

Anyways I don't see how you're only $450 in after 5 grows o_O The cheapest seeds worth growing I can find are all around $40 a pack..Plus your lights, etc..

i can undersand how you in so cheap :) i used to be the cheapest guy on RIU. so your problem sound like you have not ammedde you medium to grow
MJ. you need to add some perlite, vermiculte and probably some dol lime to your mix. the mixs right out the bag tend to be too hot.

stop using nutes if you are using them.

stop overwatering or underwatering, one of the 2, go and get a cheap moisture meter at lowes(5$)

forget about veg till you get some bud under your belt put your lights on 12/12 and get them in close.

We've all had to start at one time or an other and I'm sure most of us had to learn the hard way. I' wouldn't take some of these comments to heart, you'll get the hang of it sooner or later, don't give up due to some of these insulting coments. Sorry guys but we've all been there at one time or an other. Keep trying, learn by your mistakes, don't give up....good luck my friend.

Be patient... 3 week old plant is not something to judge already as 'stunted growth'.
In a while, you'll want to start doing things, but for now just put up some pics so we can see what you got going on, and maybe offer suggestions to help you along.

lol yes your thumb doesnt seem to be too green. But it can be. Learn from your mistakes. I always tell people to keep a calender or a notebook so they can look back and see what led to problems. Usually these things show at least 3-5 days after the overfeed. keep temps, airflow, feeding, and water all in a good level and you should do fine. learn with the t5s or cfls then bump up to the bigger lights.

just keep at it and keep learning. There are few things better than harvesting your own buds i tell you what.

Hey GreenThumb, I totally get this. I have killed every single plant I have ever bought, been given or taken care of for my entire life. Other people say "Just throw some water on it every few days." Dead. "Just give it some light." Dead. "Just keep it happy." Dead. I have killed cacti, kudzu, every succulent known to man, all vines, flowers, etc.

So when I started my grow, I did the opposite of what people recommend -- I started with hydro. I just knew I would kill anything in soil. The hydro is easy for me because there's no guessing. It's very formulaic.

I'm going to think positively for you and assume your new grow will go well. If soil is still a challenge after that, then think about hydro.
