but i guess from now on i'm only going to worry about the ppm unless the pureblend pro is over the ppm mark? so now im going to.....

1. remove plant from bucket

2. empty old water

3. PH the new water starting at 7, and ph it to around 5.5 to 6.

4. add nutes
ive been using botanicare products at half dose into the 2nd week of flowering while using 3 gal bucket stealth bubblers:

problend bloom 45 ml
-mix- THEN PPM check according to plant stage
THEN ADD:(not worrying about ppm influx from after adding the base nute?? (pureblend pro bloom))....ADDING 1/2 or full strength of the following depending on idk (please provide info stoned:weed:)
(1/2 strength)

sweet 12 ml
-mix-
liquid karma 15 ml
-mix-
cal mag 15 ml
-mix-
hygrozime 15 ml
-mix-
nitrozyme 12 ml
-mix-

5. regulate the ph to back at 6

so furthermore i should be able to add as much as the other nutes besides the pureblend as i want and even if it raises ppm its fine i only worry abot the pureblend base nutes right? so i should be able to add as much pureblend to my water also beforehand as long as it hits the desired ppm before adding other nutes correct? im high and confused help walk me through

You are Correct. The nutes - ppm of water = ppm of nutes. The rest is what it is. I run 2400-2600 totals in my res with GH Grow/ Bloom, Micro, Liquid Karma, Cal-Mag, CannaZyme, and a bit of Superthrive.

mostycrazy what does your schedule look like for day 16 of flowering? compared to mine? per gal. i tried going full strength but when i tried putting 90ml of pbp in my initial ppm was far over what i shot for. i started with my a 5gal of dist. water. 0ppm and 7.5 ph. i phed it down to 5.7 but it brought my ppm up to 300. from there i added my pure bloom pro at 90ml and it shot up to 1800. so does it mean 1800-300=1500ppm for my ppm check after the base nute?

then added the rest
sweet 60 ml (15ml per gal)
-mix-
liquid karma 15 ml
-mix-
cal mag 15 ml
-mix-
hygrozime 30 ml (7.5 per gal)
-mix-
nitrozyme 12 ml
-mix-

ppm around 3000
now

5. regulate the ph to back at 6

Correct. You want to see what your particular brand and strength of nutes do to the PH for reference if nothing else.

you see im still kinda confused about this ppm thing.. let me walk you through it... i changed it up and switched to the flora nutes.

so i have about 4gals of water in each 5gal bucket.


put water in bucket PHed to 5.7 the base hardness of the water i used was 585 without adding nutes.



added 64ml of flora bloom (16ml x 4gal) 64ml
ppm after bloom 1600 (1015ppm if base subtracted)

mixed

added 32ml of flora micro (8ml x 4gal) 32ml
ppm after bloom and micro 2760 (2175 if base subtracted)

mixed

so as of now after adding 2 nutes just a micro and a bloom i have a ppm of 2175 subtracting base??

so in essence this this nute mix is way too much for my day 30 bloomers correct?? or am i wrong? i have other things i would like to add to the nute soup such as liquid karma and floralious i am confused because if the ppm is that high it will overfertilize. or am i off somewhere?? please explain

Too much Bloom nutes. I add 5-7 ml per gal which in your case would be at most 30ml for the bucket. The micro dose is about right.

i thought according to the lucas formula it is 8ml micro 16 ml bloom per gal??:dunce: btw i'm at day 32ish of 12/12

Don't use lucas and just go by the label direction. Does Lucas say what the ppm should be? I haven't even thought about using lucas but might on a future grow. I'm still playing with lights and additives. They do look excellent for day 32 though.

The lucas formula is a low cost, efficient, effective nute regimen for growing meds in dwc hydro. it is unique in that it is relatively low cost to run once you have an r/o machine, only one rez change between veg and flower, and the fact that no meters are needed to monitor the rez if ro water is used. Just measure yer water, add nutes, dump em into the rez........

the top up info in this first post is obsolete, see the lni below for the new improved and much tested version..........;).............everything can be made better. Now we top in veg w straight ro, and 0-3-6 ni flower, w fresh water only added the last 2 weeks.

I dig it, and w a 2 week flush it doesnt even taste like hydro...... :p

General Hydroponics Flora Series Feeding Strategy - Lucas Formula

G-M-B (Grow-Micro-Bloom)
0-5-10 - For Vegitative cycle (18/6)
0-8-16 - For Flowering cycle (12/12)

The numbers indicate the number of mililiters of Grow, Micro or Bloom formulas that I use in one gallon (US Liquid) of nutrients.

You will notice I don't use any of the Grow formula, don't need to, the Micro provides plenty of Nitrogen.

There are two ways to work with this formula:

1. Top off the reservoir daily using a pH corrected water solution as required to maintain full reservoir level. After adding back an amount of water equal to the amount of your reservoir capacity you should change the reservoir and put in fresh solution.
2. Top off the reservoir daily using a pH corrected 100% strength nutrient solution as required to maintain full reservoir level. Continue to use this nutrient solution without dumping the tank unless the PPM rises above acceptable levels.

Between vegitative and flowering cycles you should dump your nutrients, then flush (possibly with Clearex) to remove salt buildups, then change to the other feeding program.

For young plants, just transplanted into the hydro setup, give them 50% strength nutrient mix to prevent overfeeding them while their young. Gradually bring up the mix to full strength as they grow over the next few weeks or so.

The lucas formula is normally intended for use with RO or near 0 PPM water.

NOTE: The lucas formula eliminates the need for epsom salts to correct Mg deficiendies in most normal feeding programs recomended by manufacturers. Cannabis needs a lot of Magnesium to thrive. The Flora Micro is providing the Nitrogen and the Mg in the proper balance, thus there is no need for the Grow formula and little or no room under the 'acceptable' PPM limit of 1600 @ 0.7 conversion.

Expected PPM levels:

At .5 conversion:
0-4-8 = 473ppm
0-5-10 = 592ppm
0-8-16 = 947ppm

At .7 conversion:
0-4-8 = 663ppm
0-5-10 = 829ppm
0-8-16 = 1326ppm

I'm wondering what the .5 and .7 coversions are. .5 and .7 of what? With you're hard water it goes against the suggestion of 0 or near zero ppm of water. And then I see your success and then I'm really confused. Think you need to catch up with someone who uses the lucas formula.

yea i just did research on the ppm meter i have...i didnt know about the conversions and im trying to sort things out. i have a sunleaves meter

the conversions are from what I get just a different measuring table for different countries. you need to find out what conversion your meter is and then you also have to find out what table your nute company uses on there labels. that way you know exactly what your readings are.

These meters are all working by measuring ec and converting it to ppm. Different meter companies use different conversion factors to accomplish that. .5 and .7 are most common (you don't need to know the formula). Check your meter's manual or the manufacturer's website to learn how your meter is converting. It really doesn't matter for your own monitoring but if you want to use someone else's ppm index to set your nutrient concentration you need to know that your meter and his meter are speaking the same language, or you need to translate.

it does matter for your own monitoring for example my bluelab truncheon has both the .5 and .7 scale to show the difference and the floranova nutes I have use the .5 scale for their conversion. if your solution reads 1800ppm on the .5 scale it will read 2500 on the .7 scale. that is a big difference. so if your meter reads the .5 scale and your nutes use the .7 scale you will not be able to follow certain perameters properly.

Your nutes don't "use" the .7 scale, your nute company assumes it in their charts. And that is exactly what I mean by "someone else's."
