I feel its almost impossible to say something that wouldn't start shit between HLG and "similar" Chinese products, if the results are even kind off similar most people would read it as "why donate extra money to HLG for their brand". So it's either trashing Chinese stuff or why waste the extra money.

But my HLG rocks, I love it to bits though I haven't completed my first run I have 9 peyote Wi-Fi under it in a 4 x 4 alongside another 2 4x4's under 600w gavitas on lumatek ballast and one more 4x4 with a 630w HI PAR DE sunstorm. All are Drain to waste coco/perlite with mills nutes. So far Hi Par light is doing best by looks but when you take into account the lower wattage of the HLG it might be a winner, buds under it look tighter then the others.

Hey Prime. Have you made a diode count on the whote leds of the geek beast? It would be easier to evaluate their specs if we knew how many whites/reds/uv.

Over 6 strips? Id say the numbers are probably fudged a little bit but not enough to complain on a china build. Iirc they quoted 2.7 something, its hard to believe how they get there with that setup which is comparable to a hlg 650R with less diodes. But i still think this is a really good deal with all those features as long as it lasts for a decent while.

We shall see. I'm still waiting on my tents extra supports to show up...thought I had em in my cart at checkout but shopping stoned isn't always the best. But in a few days Im going to vri g it to a local hydro shop that says they'll test it with a par meter if I bring it in....so hey we'll see.

Bear in mind that all par meters dont have the same response curve, some are significantly worse at measuring red, some include far red and uv some dont

I also have the option of hortibloom mega pro 3 bar but its 650w and 2 of them will probably be too much for my 1.8 x 1.05 room as I am trying to reduce watts overall, also prefer 6 bars for spead than 3 spaced far between? But hortibloom is much more known than lite science through this forum.

I was almost going to go with kingbrite 5 bar as they are 1100x944 but, they really dont look the part and have bad par map readings on their page. Also, what I would call a bad review on youtube from a guy.


My only other option I have is 550 boards or spending the cash on 2x Growers choice 420s.

Ok so I finally ran the par numbers for the mj650’s

I took just a few measurements with numbers. Very even spread across my 4x8 canopy.

So dimmed down to 500w per light i was hitting 1000 par at 12” pretty much the whole 4x8 section

running both at full blast 650w each at 20” I was 900-1000 par

Then for veg I was at 350w per light at 30” above the canopy and was hitting pretty much 500 across the spread.

Nice work bud! I’ve got mine set around 18” dimmed to 480 watts.

Thanks, I’ll be using those numbers to adjust.

I’ve found with the bars full blast and raised gives more even spread than dimmed and close.

Dimmed and close you see more drop off between bars. I guess that seems logical. These LED’s like to shoot straight down.

Really liking the lights, it’s a tight design.

By the way does anyone here live in Florida perhaps close to Jacksonville. I’m willing to so anyone that would like to learn for free. I’m also paralyzed from a car accident in 2015 I had a lawn business and a couple other businesses as well basically what I’m saying is I’m putting my all into this and if You are motivated like I am there’s no Tellin what the future could holdxyou are motivated like I am there’s no Tellin what the future could hold
