What strains are you doing and how are you growing otherwise?
if you talk to us for too long, @Airwalker16 and I might talk you into trying out hydro LOL.
I'm doing
2 purple chems from GPS
1 crumpets- Copycat Genetix
1 tangie biscotti- Copycat Genetix
1 zurple punch- Copycat Genetix
All being done in octopots so I'm already doing hydro, sort of, lol. Pretty sure I'm gonna build a recirculating system for the next run but I didn't feel like taking on too much for my first time back. I've done DWC in single buckets in the past so I'm not new to hydro or nothing just looking for something easy peasy until I get my feet back on the ground and running again. Hell if they work good as I've seen though I might stick with em for awhile. Especially since I dropped a couple hundo on em.

You talking about dangerous for me? Never considered the danger factor. What kinda precautions should be taken with these things?
Don't touch the end of the AC lines with two different hands. Outside of that you should be fine, assuming the crappy built in driver doesn't start fire. 110v AC is really not that big of a deal. DIY'ers connect 110v AC to their drivers anyway. 220v AC is a very different animal however.

nope, was a reply about the driverless boards that got brought up.
Just take your time assembling, follow the directions, and if you are confused come ask for help.

I was more talking about how I wouldnt want a bunch of ac voltage around my head just in case.
Ive taken 3 AC voltage hits in my life. One was around 60v one around 75v and one 110v that went through my leg for a split second.
They didnt kill me, but they damn sure were not fun and id prefer to avoid it happening again so if there are things I can do to reduce the likelihood of that happening I will do them.
With drivers, the only ac connection you make is connecting the power cord to the drivers. I soldered my power cords on and used heat shrink and mounted the drivers outside of my tent.

Sounds like youre headed for a good time there. I can understand an if its not broke dont fix it approach, We both run rdwc systems.

Have any of you guys heard about people running all far red diode pucks for 15 minutes after lights out to supposedly simulate sunrise and make the plants to wake up and go to sleep faster? I found an old thread but it's from 2013 so he was talking about using something else. Supposedly it's something that's done in commercial settings as well.

Also just noticed meiju has boards with UV and IR should I spring the lil extra for UV boards or is it such a little amount that it would be better to just go with the regular ones?

Yes this is very widely known. Its 15mins after lights out. Not when the lights turn on.

Check out "The Far Red Thread"

Back in high school my electronics teacher had an AC generator that was operated with a hand crank. He's make the whole class hold hands with one student at each end holding a wire coming off of the AC generator. Then he would slowly crank the generator and progressively speed up the cranking, which would increase the voltage, until a student couldn't handle the voltage and would let go to break the circuit. Good times. I doubt teachers could get away with that stuff these days tho.

Does anyone know where I can find a 1000w dimmer with a wireless controller? I’ve found a 800w one on amazon but never like pushing behind the 80% factor. My light has the capability of doing 720w which will most likely be closer to 800w. I never plan to use that much power as I plan to run the boards at 80-100w max. My far red strips are on a dimmable hlg-80h-c700b so they’ll be on their own dimmer. I’d still like to have the safety net in case it fails ones day and blasts full power while I’m at work.

I have a 4x4 full of a buddy’s hybrid of Rockstar x Cookies n’Cream. Curious to see how they’ll turn out. There’s 5 females and one male. The sacks on the dude are still tiny tiny but him and smallest female will be going to my buddies house this week. Interested in trying copycats stuff for next run though.

if anyone is interested in the blue drainage racks . They’re bread trays with the corners cut out to fit the 4x4 base. Didn’t like my pots sitting in saucers when I want proper run off. I shop vac the excess that runs out after.

So, if I'm gonna grab veg boards should I go with 5000k or try to get 6500k?
I’m pretty happy with my 4000k boards from KB. A little difficult to lst in the beginning with the plants being so squatted but after a little playing around height and power adjustments, I couldn’t be happier.

Question for you guys. When looking at the Meanwell data sheet for the hlg-240h-48AB it says that only 2 PSU are allowed on a 16a Type B breaker. What’s the reasoning for this?
