When my plant isn't flowering under the sun from 9am-9pm I'm using 12 40W warm cfls and 2 45W for a bit of blue light. Going pretty good I'll get some pics up tomorrow of the closet. Word to the CFL DWC Combo

hey whats up, this is my 1st grow im useing 225 watts of cfls,im useing bc nuts.there in a grow box thats 4 ft long 18inches wide an about 5 ft tall, they have 2 glass doors.i think they help it stay cool.its stays like 73-76f in there.im waiting for my carbon filter to finish my grow box for now the doors stay open an a 6 inch fan.i have one bubbleberry its 18 iches an one great white shark its about 3ft.there 35 days in flowering,an in 3 gal. pots. i took clones about 3 weeks ago an topped them about 4 days ago, they seem to be growing slower then the 1st plants that i took the clones from.but i didnt top them ones.my next grow im going to plant them in 1 gal pots. so what do you guys think. also how many plants do you think i could flower under 225-250 cfls. thanks for your time.

i want to join .. i use them and i find they are great ... not everyone needs to run expensive hps etc. keep going with this thread .. forget the trolls who post ...cfls are cheap and the plants love um ... in my experience genes determine yield and quality as long as the minimum light quality is there ;-)

My first grow as CFLs and way passed my expectations. Here's a few pics. Old growlog is linked in my sig.

Pics are about 2 weeks before harvest. Got 1.4oz dry :)

Good luck to all you CFLers...IT WORKS

Yeah, the gift wrap they carried was made of mylar. I noticed an explosion of growth after I replaced my white papered interior... dont ask. :)
My Aerogarden has a hood with three high intensity CFL's that do the job nicely. I only wish there was another source for them because everywhere I've checked acts like I was speaking a foreign language. Does anyone know where I could get A/G lamps? The only problem with A/G is that their delivery is always so slow.
I also invested in three inexpensive mirrors from Home Depot and positioned them with a slight tilt so they reflect the light back and up. Works great. No heat to have to deal with. I like to keep it simple and affordable.

Don't sell Home Depot short. They have a good selection and their prices are still very reasonable. I think often merchants try to screw us. A little hydroponics store tried to sell me a little green aluminum frame with an accompanying florescent fixture for germinating and cloning for about $150. I bought a length of PVC, elbows, tees and a two tube fixture for about $30 and made the same thing and it works great. What I like about CFL's is that you can get them right down to the plants where they're needed. You can't do that or you'd fry them with other types of lighting because of the heat factor. My A/G comes with three high intensity CFL's that light up my plants to a height of 24 inches. God, I love technology.

ok, question... i am starting a breeding project. im gonna use the least amount of lumens in the least amount of space, what so u guys think? 2x 55w (200w eq?) 2700k in a 2'x2'3' packing box. how hot is 2 hot in there? min # of lumens u guys think to keep a female and a male on track? ive heard 3000/sqft, but dont u think since im not smoking them less would keep things up or no? thx all. project will be a deep purple mama w chernobyl and space bomb possibily a querkle (we'll know soon...) fathers. haha im gonna call em deep space and deep shit :)

i like cfls a lot and i think its possible to grow good weed with them but everyone sais it takes longer.. i cant wait to try out my new 250 watt dimmable hps.. i might have to keep it dimmed to 150 when i put it in my cabinet cause its not very big.. its gonna probably be a high yeilding cabinet though with that hps 150 or not.. it also dimms to 175 pretty cool huh.. . for right now my clones rooting in its new soil home under about 160 watts fluoro.. ive got mostly blues good spectrum for it right now but when i slap that hps in there theres gonna be like 40 percent more light.. 150 watts cfl =11 thousand lumens or so... 150 watts hps = 16,000.. pretty big ass difference.. and i have a feeling hps is a better spectrum too. ive heard people say the resin production is better under hps..
