I didn't think the 50000 was so bad so I looked up the cost of liquor licenses in Boston

Right now, a full liquor license in Boston is fetching prices from a one-time fee of $245,000 all the way up to $450,000 for a liquor license in the Back Bay, brokers said. A beer and wine license in the city usually costs around $50,000

I read somewhere that a "taxi medallion" in New York city costs around $300K. Seems reasonable. You want to drive a cab and earn a modest living? Pay up, bitch.

That 300k goes to the previous owner tho doesn't it?

the reason people are willing to pay so much for that medallion is that the living provided is enough to warrant it

And I'm sure the living provided by a licensed dispensary will be more than enough to warrant it too

And I am very surprised that some seem to think, total chaos would be Free. These Cities are expensive and I think it is a toss up to say Cities = Good. It breeds a lack of self reliance.

But, it is very expensive. And if any fool could be a cab company with no solvency then there would be chaos.

Money is the marker of Capital Standing. You pay to play. These are the top markets. Much risk, heavy insurance, etc.

Do like one of my brothers did. Start a a beach cab in concession in a little beach ditch town and watch it grow.. Now he a shot caller on Medallions. Has a fleet of Limo, etc.

John Stossel covered the taxi cab medallion issue in NYC in his episode of "Everything is Illegal"...and at the time, he said a medallion costs $1 million. In the words of Stossel, GIVE ME A BREAK...nobody is buying these medallions because it's "worth it" to drive a fucking taxi cab...it's just something the city does to keep competition out, because nobody can afford a million dollar fucking medallion. A few decades ago, anybody could come to America, buy a car, paint "taxi" on it and be in business immediately, as an entrepreneur. Other entrepreneurs would compete for lowest fares and the price would be driven down as low as possible. But this is America, not a place for entrepreneurs- GO TO COLLEGE AND GET A DEBT DEGREE TO WORK THE ASSEMBLY LINE

Oh, in addition to that $50k license, you're also required to have $500,000 in operating capital (proven through bank account documents & documented lines of credit). It's absurd enough that a patient must receive a letter of recommendation from a doctor (which they often must pay for) that cannabis helps to treat whatever ailment they deal with...for a drug with an LD-50 impossible to achieve & below caffeine and aspirin. Who the fuck is going to tell me cannabis works for me, better than myself? Prohibition is, itself, prohibited by the 10th amendment. All of this MMJ "progress" by means of beaurocratic loops one must jump through totally undermines constitutional law
