The Budologist's 2012 Outdoor Grow (TGA Forest)

Everything looks awesome man! Im doing all super soil outdoors this year as well, and mainly TGA strains. Are you not going to use Bud candy or any other carb? I know sub instructs water only but I think he also mentions somewhere else that bud candy is his favorite new carb additive..
just curious im on the fence about it myself

I plan on just top dressing with super soil later in the season but some ssugars sounds pretty good towards the end we will see.

get some Diatomaceous Earth and make a small 1" mound around your bed after you apply sugars, it will keep the ants at bay.

I've always wondered if diatomaceous earth mixed in with SS would eliminate pests in soil or if the DE would harm any added beneficial bacteria like nematodes..

DE is actually beneficial but can be toxic at high levels, I wouldn't mix it in with my SS, but use it as a light top dress regularly.

It basically softens the exoskeleton of those types of bugs when they walk through it.

DE contains silica which is a good thing. Too much top layer on the soil will make drainage harder or nearly impossible and your water will puddle up on you. It turns in to a pasty like substance when wet. Crushed up eggshells or crushed oyster shells may be a better choice for a top soil layer with the added Calcium from the 2 sources, add a barrier of DE if you like where you don't water like mike said in post #304. Some DE mixed in the soil would be o.k. for the Silica content that the plants love, but very little.

I thought it dries them out.

Absolutely correct Paka,

TheOrganic, I use this every year around my squash and melons. I dont see how it could dry out the soil in the quantities that are recommended for use.

P.S.
No more caterpillers this year....

This mofo has been hard at work zapping moths left and right
Bud Do you know if these affect the photoperiod, id like to have one as close as possible to my plants, spent wayy to much time last year picking those caterpillars everyday.

Gave all the girls a real nice shower with some organic Neem Oil tonight, I'm gonna try to spray them at the least every 2 weeks to help prevent against bugs, mildew, and mold three things I don't want to deal with this year.

I picked up some Sour Alien from a dispensery by my house (elemental wellness center), and I found one seed in it.

I'm gonna try to germinate it tomorrow along with the pre98 Bubba x Querkle testers :)

Gonna puff some Jack The Ripper full melt and call it a night.

The forecast is looking awesome all 80s the next week these girls are gonna shift into the next gear here pretty soon.

Stay tuned for pics later this week.
