The best set-up for the best yield for a newbie

I am new into growing and have read up on the basics and decided my best bet would be to go Hydro and i am thinking about DWC buckets. I want my first grow to be worth it and get a good yield. I have the space and pretty much have the money to do what i want but i am still undecided on a couple of things. Does anyone think the DWC grow buckets are good for beginners that harvest a good yield? Or would a different system be better? Anyone have some links to good grow journals that would help me?

thanks

I think that for a new grower the best option is to go with soil. Hydro doesn not necessarily produce a larger yield than soil and soil is a lot easier to maintain. I still use soil as a preferred method and I get monster yields. Just make sure you water them correctly (don't overwater!) and get enough light to sustain a good grow. Any other questions just ask..

i agree with T8 as far as soil goes.
for a beginner hydro can be a disaster .. if you make a mistake in mixing your nutes the plants are dead within the day. with soil you have somewhat of a buffer zone and as soon as you start seeing a problem you have a day or 2 to decide on the fix . ie: flushing or whatever. and take action.
soil is a lot more forgiving and i use it as my prefered method and i too get not only great yields but great tasting bud from the organic soil and organic nutes

I also use organic nutes, blood meal for veg. and bone meal & molasses for flowering. I think it adds to great tasting bud without the bad chemical taste, I would recommend organic to anyone.

DWC is stupid simple, you can veg plants twice as fast in hydro as in soil. You can make your own setup with commonly available parts for less than $20. As long as you go extra easy on the fertilizer and have good lighting you should be able to grow a decent yield.
