Both big and small cup can be bought at office max for under 8$.


Anyone still having smell through these?

I assume this is still the go to method for DIY odor control? I gave up after 12 pages, does anyone know what size fan works best for these? My grow will be inside a tv using 180 watt led and a few cfl's so heat shouldn't really be an issue except when it's n the garage. Mainly just odor issues I'm sure

Are they both the exact same cups as the OP'S on page 1?

could you post a link to each cup plz, to make sure i get the right ones as i will be ordering from Europe

Picked up a few things at walmart.

Black duck-tape
Black "Pencil cup"
Smaller black "Pencil cup"
Black ladies socks (pantyhose)
Activated carbon




Poor some carbon in the mesh like "pencil cup"



.... just enough so the smaller cup is level with the larger cup.



Slip the smaller cup into the sock




Tuck the sock into the smaller cup holding the end of the sock. Pore in the carbon.. keep holding the end of the sock.




Now pull on the end of the sock and use your finger to guide the carbon into the space between both cups until filled.




Now pull the end of the sock over the entire filter.. twist the end of the sock at the bottom and pull it up over the end of the cup.





Now simply use duck-tape to place the filter over your exhaust fan. I used a rubber band to secure it...




Works great... though I already miss that sweet aroma =[

i know this is super old but worth a try if you respond, but i have a secret grow in a pc case that im going to put in my room, will this filter mask the smell to the point where if my mom comes in my room she wont smell that ohh so delicious smell?

yup with no problem replace evert 2 to 3 months with new carbon

what size exhaust fan are you using on your genius little carbon scrubber? its perfect size for some plans

I have a stealth grow going on and the kit I'm using is small enough to fit in my closet and i want to control the odor but unlike most growers I'm not using a grow box just a small hydro kit ...I've never had a roommate until now and I'm trying to stay low pro so help please cause growing is a million times better than going to a dealer

I just put this DIY together and MAN it makes a big difference.... now I am only flowering one plant, but the smell was pretty strong (week 5) and now there is no smell anymore... though wally world only sells the big pen holder, I had to hunt down the smaller one at Kame-apart... LOVE this for sure!!

Hey foza, I have 2 120mm computer fans that run approx. 100 to 110 cfm (they are older and probably not as fast)... might get a 20.00 booster fan that has a 200 to 250 cfm.

hey leaf man that sounds like a heap of airflow for what im looking for. but i know nothing lol. how big is your room? Ive changed my plans a bit, its gonna be small and hopefully quiet. found a upright cupboard 1.5ftWx1.5Dx5.5H. its small but its my first build and grow, and wanna keep it as stealth as i can in a small space.

Gonna build in 3 levels for seedling, veg and flower. only cfls, 130w 6400k in veg, and a 130w 2600k and 105w 6400k in flower. passive exhaust at bottom, 70cfm pc fan up top to start (i have no idea how about fan setup) will experiment with filter to see what airflow is like. mayb have flower on lowest level getting freshest air, then veg, then seedling up top recieving warmer air from cabinet and mayb some from an exhaust off the psu pc power supply ill be installing (not sure if thats worth it).

what do u reckon? im guesssing 70cfm fan not strong enough for a filter

I need to use PC fans for stealth..
What CFM is recommended for this?

I'll be using Arctic cooling fans.
How much CFM do you think the filter blocks?
So I planned on have 3 exhaust and 2 intake.. all equal in power.. think it will even out?

I'm growing 2 auto northern lights.
